I was at a book giveaway earlier today (the archeology institute realized they had too many old books just collecting dust). I found what looks to be a cool find:
A book by the renowned pioneering British archeologist Sir W. M. Flinders Petrie called "Seventy Years in Archaeology". What caught my eye, however, were the two signatures on the front:
The bluish stamp belonged to Magen Broshi, a well-known Israeli archeologist who operated mainly during the 60s-80s. The dedication was made out to P. L. O. Guy, a well-known British archeologist during the British Mandate in Palestine. Apparently Broshi came to own the book sometime after Guy received it.
I don't know for certain, but the dedication might be from Petrie himself (!). He usually signed his name as F. Petrie, but those initials look like an F and a P. I was wondering whether anyone could tell me what the rest of the dedication says. I'm really bad at reading cursive.
