I live in a neighborhood called Church Row, named for one of the main streets with is lined with antique churches. Occasionally, I wake up before 10am(I try not to) and hear one a few blocks over playing a pretty tune with the bells. It goes on a few minutes. It goes off at 12pm and 5pm, too(maybe other times, but I haven't heard it yet). I don't feel I need to be a Christian to appreciate the chimes, and appreciate them I do. It always creates a moment of peace for me, much needed in my world.

Do you have any small, seemingly meaningless things that you appreciate?

I like the sound of Azaan prayers coming from a distance. I find it soothing even though I don't understand the language. Oh and spending some time under the sun in the winter months. :=)

One of mine are the birds, especially hummers, outside my window. I tend to take a break and watch them for a few seconds when my eyes notice a flash of movement.

We've got a pretty brave hummingbird that visits our yard daily, I suspect for the dying apple tree in it. I enjoy seeing him. He got about a food from my husband and buzzed at him yesterday.

Watching creatures go about their business.

Walking.

Daydreaming.

Entering some kind of trance by paying attention to sensory stimuli in a detached way.

Walking in the forest.

Listening from a distance to children at play. Get to close and you can make out what they are saying that often ruins the moment.

Watching the antics or cats.

Good coffee.

That fresh washed smell after a rain storm

Yes. Steven Seagal running.

In all seriousness, a good cup of coffee, nightfall, rain, the smell of rain, the sound of rain, dark clouds, and hearing people around me speak a strange language.

I like automated cooking devices that turn themselves off. You put something in, push a button, walk away and when you come back its a treat.

A cool breeze in a hot day, especially one coming in off an ocean.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of theIr women.

I also like chewing peppermint gum after a meal.
