Sisters Bisexuality

Skanky Old Mongrel!
Sup all.

My sister recently told me that she is bisexual (she is quite young). I am hoping that this is part of a journey of self discovery and that she is indeed not bi. Not because I am judgemental or intolerant but I know that she will struggle more as a bi woman than she would as a gay woman. Bisexual women have it tougher than lesbians I notice when it comes to acceptance and have difficulties dating. This probably makes me a terrible person.

I don't think it need be a problem at all.
No two people, or their life-stories, are the same, and any difficulties that she might meet with, she will handle and make adjustments for.
Most of us had various kinds of tragedies in our youth, which we thought we might never recover from, and yet most of us did........:)
And so, 'Good Luck' to your sister.......... and may she flourish and have the joys and sorrows that will make her into yet another beautiful person..... :)

I have, personally, seen more bisexuals than bi-phobics. And I am from Iowa. I can't imagine it being much worse in Australia, which generally has more proclaimed "liberals" if I remember correctly, right?

Could be wrong. Just an assumption.

Depends on which part of Australia you are in.

It would be fair to say religion plays a less dominant role in Australian society, but some parts of the country still seem stuck back in the 60's in general terms.

Well Perth is fairly conservative compared to places like melbourne and sydney.

I had a mother and two younger sisters that "practiced" bisexuality for a time. I think it was just an experimental phase.

All three of them are now exclusively heterosexual; my mother and one of my sisters are in committed relationships with men, and have expressed they have no desire to ever practice bi/lesbianism ever again.

Edit: Strong bump. Odd.

Practiced bisexuality?

You either are or aren't bisexual or lesbian or gay. Also, I'm in a committed relationship with a man, but consider myself bisexual. Didn't 'practice' it for years until we became polyamorous.

It is possible for sexual interests to change. Not everyone feels the same way their entire life.

I have know girls to "become" lesbians because of being raped by daddy and all the men in the family.
At least that is what they told me

A poor choice of words on their part. Either they chose to only date women, which would make them bisexual, or they came to the realization that they were not attracted to men. You don't become lesbian due to rape.

How can you speak for them?
1) due to being molested by many men, they have zero attraction to men.

It makes perfect sense.

I also know a guy who was madly in love with his wife and she cheated on him and took everything he owned, if you will.
He is gay now and only dates men.
He will tell you exactly what I said, he has zero trust nor attraction to females.

Take this for what it is instead of trying to "think" for people you do not know :D

If there is a choice, it's bisexuality. Sexual orientation exists from birth.

Think of it this way: homophobes get turned on by gay porn. They are also disgusted by them. An inherent attraction can't be lost that easy, but the reaction to the attraction can be warped into extreme disgust.

Taking people for their words alone is a bad exercise.

No, it doesn't. As someone who has been assaulted, that makes no sense. Rape is not about sex, it is about power.

More than likely he was/is bisexual and had those tendencies beforehand, but due to cultural concerns, hid them.

Only a choice because I can pick from both sides who to date and be with. ;) My bisexuality is definitely not a choice. I've always been attracted to males and females -- always.
