SJW-ism Takes Aim at STEM

It's always frustrating when the USA's on-going race war interferes with something important.

Incidentally, why do we never hear about little green men in discussions about Mars any more. Sounds a bit racist to me. :D

This is the problem with social justice warriors:

To their credit though, the girl in the middle has bright orange skin, so that's a kind of diversity, right?

With many attempts to find incidents that conform to the narrative of a flood of overreaching social justice activism, I think it is important to be critical and see if things are really as described.

I read the article linked to written by the one criticized,
When discussing humanity's next move to space, the language we use matters. The article objects to how speakers have made positive references to past white colonialists such as Christopher Columbus, and feels that Elon Musk deemphasize the importance of involving racial minorities in STEM education. The author also objects to the language of "saving the light of humanity" by bringing it to Mars, as this "saving" will in Elon Musk's project be exclusive to the very affluent.

This is one black woman's perspective that she offers people to consider. I do not like seeing opinions casually dismissed because they are superficially judged as "SJW-ism."
As a general rule, I like to let people make their case before I judge them wrong. :D I don't follow twitter because I'm just not that cool. I like formats that allow a person an almost unlimited space to fully formulate and put forth their ideas.

Just because someone has a Doctorate, it doesn't mean they are intelligent.
I've hand a couple PhDs work for me as maintenance guys.
They were no better than average at changing light bulbs or
cleaning toilets than the non-college bound.

What exactly is the problem? The picture is of all women, but without knowing why that is so I do not get why it is necessarily a problem?

Diversity =/= All White; which is how the picture presents itself.

I've come across it too irl. Or feminist groups with majority men involvement. It's funny and ironic.

Hmmm ... SJW. Single Jewish Woman? That was my first thought till I looked it up.

As far as the decolonializing astronomy and STEM, with respect ot the Thirty Meter Telescope, many of my Hawaiian friends are upset about it, but as I have a hanai son, and considering his Aliʻi nui bloodlines, I am a damn sight more Hawaiian than many of them, so I remind them that while it may be their sacred mountain, but it's my sacred telescope, and I'm an atheist anyway.

But, was it intentional though? Did they put in the effort to try and diversify it and just have a poor turnout, or was it more geared towards that?

Yes, just slightly.
Then, could you please demonstrate how these are just slightly exaggerated:

1.) Elon Musk's desire to colonize Mars is based on white colonialism and white male privilege.
2.) Black scientists know more than many white scientists.
3.) Time is a construct of cis white patriarchy.
