I tend to agree, if only that they were likely to have better lives here in every way that mattered - especially in comparison to the lands they came from. Those lands were plagued with war, tribal disputes, murder, and starvation. America in the colonial times would have been paradise, in comparison. Heck, we could argue that it still is.

Probably more to do with competition. China for instance. You can buy stuff from China for a fraction of the cost. So low the only explanation is they are using slave labor. When Americans have to compete with foreign slave labor it drives down prices and shrinks the middle class. Trumps policies to impose tariffs on these imported goods would not only discourage foreign slave labor it would increase US jobs.

Exactly. Guess which party is in favor of shipping jobs overseas because capitalism? Greed is more important than doing the right thing.

Some people don't "walk the walk" after the talk. Trump ties "Made in the USA" yet? Jobs don't come back with republicans in charge. Jobs don't leave because of taxes. Jobs leave because of greed and lower wages.

Greed is color blind. At what point were Negroes declared non property? Lincoln was only able to free those slaves owned by the 'enemy' by confiscating their property.

In order to consider that point valid, you need to consider it acceptable for humans to be "property" in the first place. I'm amazed that there are modern people in the "land of the free" who don't have any moral issues with that idea.
