I don't know about lie, I don't think many bigots realise they are bigots

Yes, so many are frightened of haters reactions if their preference became known that they lie to hide it.

I've found that spiritual people tend not to hide their spirituality, not do they flaunt it. If asked they will talk about it.

Bigots don't tend to think of themselves as bigots, so there is no attempt to deceive. No lie.

I think people who are in religion just to fleece their flocks are lying about their beliefs. Particularly in the mega church evangelist arena , but it's not just limited to Christianity.

Pretty much every religion out there has people who lie either to make money , or for some other reason do so.

Lie? No. Unless you consider omission to be "lying" - which I do not.

Humans, as a general rule, do not lie. The reason is simple - social relations and communication break down entirely in that instance. It is not practical (and highly disruptive to one's life) to do so.

I suspect that a lot of people don't lie about their spiritual beliefs if they live in free countries.

A little more than 10 years ago, I heard that some people who had Western Left Hand Path beliefs liked to call themselves 'agnostic' when asked by co-workers about their beliefs. This was because they feared being harassed or even fired due to the predominance of Christianity in the country. I don't know what they would say these days though.

What I suspect is that some individuals self-censor.

I wouldn't think that a lot of people lie about their sexual orientation in free countries these days.
