If it is possible for us to look towards a point in the universe and see galaxies from the past, ie nearest the BB.

Does that mean at some distant point in the universe, a future civilization/entity could be looking at us right now? :confused:o_O

The farther we look in distance, the farther back in time we see.
Most distant stars we see in the night sky, no longer exist or are brown dwarfs.
Our sun is ordinary, and will burn a long time. But by the time someone sees
us, it might in fact be a red giant, swallowed earth and perhaps mars.

We are but a flash in the pan.

I would say that a future civilization/entity could, in the future, see us as we are right now. It takes time for the light from now to get to that future, and no doubt distant civilisation/entity.

But I hear that if you hold to a B theory of time then all of time/space exists now. But of course that is preposterous and only people who live in fantasy land believe such things. (Physicists for example and people who believe what physicists propose)

Not only that but you can calculate the time they are watching if you know the distance they are away.

They probably sit down and watch us the same as we sit down and watch the Simpsons. "Hey did you see what the giant orange baby did?" "I know! Crazy or what!"

If only we could see in that detail. We could zoom off to 2000 light years away and watch Jesus die and rise again.
I think that when we look at galaxies that existed in the distant past, we are looking at them while we are moving away from each other at an incredible speed. I guess that would mean that an explosion that took 10 years might be spread over a much larger time period from our pov.
If we headed towards the galaxy at the same speed the galaxy is moving away from us I would say that we would see things happen at the proper speed.
All this time thinking does my head in.

Nice word play but just like wee see galaxies from the past (that is their reflection of light) so does distant civilization see our past.
Neither we nor them see present light of the other.
