So what about hell?

And when the day comes, if you find yourself in a predicament and unable to cross over into the spirit realm, come find me, and I will help you cross over. I don't think that you will have a problem locating me if you ask around, as some earthbound spirits remembered me and asked for me by name before I helped them cross over. I'll continue to help earthbound spirits once I've crossed over myself.
if you are so sure .....why not go now?

I think Jesus was giving more than an abstract illustration. He was providing a clear glimpse into either of two destinations which await every person after physical death.
There will be a judgment. But eternal torture while conscious is not part of that judgment.

No, hell is not a torture chamber, it is just for those who are all caught up in self and passion.
OK, so you don't believe in a torture chamber for some after death, right? Then what do you believe about hell?

I would not be so sure about that. The depictions of hell that I have read about are not pleasant at all.
It is enough to make one a believer even if they don't like God.

I don't know why you think that heaven would be more boring than hell. I believe it is quite the opposite.
Hell will be really boring since it consists of souls who are attached to the physical pleasures that they can no longer engage in since there is nothing physical in the afterlife. So there is nothing to do in hell except think about what you used to do on earth.

Like attracts like, but I'm not so sure you would like the souls in hell since you seem to be a nice person and there are no nice souls in hell.

Sorry, there is no way to secure termination. Blaspheming against the Holy Spirirt will get you to hell, but you will still exist, and it will be a hellish existence.
So it's not a torture chamber, just a type of awful existence, is that right?

There were no other persons Jesus mentioned abiding in that hot place, right? And he saw "Father Abraham" and Lazarus in the bosom position with Abraham. He spoke to "Father Abraham." It - was - an - illustration, or parable. Now I'm not going to tell you what I think the parable represents, I can only hope the best for you and hope you understand it as Jesus really meant it as time goes by.

So you believe that dead bodies rise from their graves and somehow come back to life?
I hope you know that there is nothing in the Bible that says that, yet millions of Christians believe that since that is what they have been taught. There is also nothing in the Bible that says that anyone is going to live forever on this earth.

Our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God which is in Heaven. Dead bodies cannot inherit what will last forever, Heaven. Our physical bodies will die and we will be raised (resurrected) as spiritual bodies that will be suited to go to Heaven and live forever. That is what the following verses say.

1 Corinthians 15:40-54 New Living Translation

40 There are also bodies in the heavens and bodies on the earth. The glory of the heavenly bodies is different from the glory of the earthly bodies.

44 They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.

50 What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.

51 But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed!

54 Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die,[c] this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory.[d]

the awful part is realizing your going to be dead, and that's as bad as it gets .i watched a man die i have seen many dead people .they dont want to be dead .thankfully we have the hope of the resurrection by means of Jesus to save us from death

once you die there is the promise of the resurrection ,you live again. and even become young as you once were .its all in the bible .if you like there is a way to have a personal bible study in your home .its free
Where are you getting all of this? This is not in the Bible. You take Bible verses and interpret them to mean what you want to believe, anyone can do that, but that is not what the verses mean.

Again, resurrection is not of the gross physical body, it is of the spirit. The body once dead remains dead and goes into the ground. The spirit rises from the body and takes on another form. Loved ones at the bedside of a dying person have witnessed this.

you really dont want to die . what you want is perfect health . what makes you think God cant do that ?
I do not want to die right now because I have work to do before I die, but I do want to die when it is my time to die, when God calls me home.

I do not care what God 'could do.' I only care what God does, and God does not bring dead bodies back to life. God created humans mortal for a reason and there is no reason why God would reverse the very process He created. It is hard to believe that people actually believe this.

Precisely. I have a feeling that a lot of people take drugs because they just can't figure why they're alive, and what happens if they die. It makes them feel better(?) to be in a semi-comatose state. I had a friend who died from an overdose of heroin, and he would tell me that death is the "ultimate high." So glad we have a hope for the future -- beyond drugs -- and death! What a privilege. "This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ." John 17:3. Amen and amen.

Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I will have a problem crossing over, knowing what is on the other side. My only concern is that I don't like change, but since I know that and I know where the change will ultimately lead, I will probably adjust in due time.

Hell is to be caught up in one's own selfish desires and attached to the world of dust.
Hell is a state of the soul, not a geographical location. Heaven is also a state of the soul derived from nearness to God and love for other people and good deeds.

Yes, hell is an awful existence from the perspective of those souls who are in heaven, but hell is not awful for those souls are suited to it, since they are comfortable in hell.

Perhaps we can start at the beginning. With Lazarus. Pretty famous account for those who read the Bible. So how long was Lazarus dead?

People who are afraid if death are afraid because they don't know what is on the other side.
There are many people who are not afraid of death and die very peacefully.

32: O SON OF THE SUPREME! I have made death a messenger of joy to thee. Wherefore dost thou grieve? I made the light to shed on thee its splendor. Why dost thou veil thyself therefrom?
The Hidden Words of Baha'u'llah

Christians who are attached to their LIFE in this WORLD are going against what Jesus taught.
The way to get eternal life is not to love life in this world, it is to hate it.

John 12:24-26 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

40: O MY SERVANT! Free thyself from the fetters of this world, and loose thy soul from the prison of self. Seize thy chance, for it will come to thee no more.

The Hidden Words of Baha'u'llah

Jesus came to offer eternal life, which is a state of the soul that is near to God. Jesus did not come to resurrect people back into their bodies so they could live forever on earth. Eternal life does not mean living in a physical body on earth forever. Eternal life will be in heaven, not on earth.

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

John 4:13-14 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
