Why do people that do believe in God claim that their God wants them to serve their society?

Recognition of self in others = Recognition of "God" in others
Drawing this parallel requires one to realize the Self as "God." The term "God" means different things to different people. Since many, if not most, view "God" as a transcendent being, anthropomorphic or otherwise, I don't find phrasing this is such a fashion useful or practical.

Happy Birthday fella. Sure there’s a thread somewhere, but in case I don’t find it on my travels, have a blessed day…
