As citizens of this planet there are certain responsibilities we are required to perform to show that we care. Such as, picking up the trash in our neighborhoods, helping those in times of need, and making sure that popular ideals don't get confused to the point where people go overboard with them.
As an atheist it is not my place to tell anyone that they can't believe in a god, a magic bunny, or talking pizza. However, I do insist that if people are going to believe in something that they at least keep those beliefs in some form of logical perspective.
I am here to debate those points in religion that don't maintain their credibility from point A to point B.
For instance, it is believed that the Christian god is all-powerful. No devil or witch could possibly hold any power over this god. And yet, it is widely believed that Jesus had to die for our sins. What does that mean, exactly?
Couldn't god have simply stated that He was now forgiving sins? Of course He could have.
Was the crucifixion some kind of witch's spell to force god into forgiving sins? That is illogical, considering that god is GOD. Point being, the crucifixion did nothing. It couldn't have forced god into doing something that He didn't want to do. And that particular something (the forgiveness of sin) was something that this god had already planned on doing. He didn't need his son to be murdered in order to do it.
