Does anyone know much about this Roman deity and his worship?

It is similar in many respects to the Roman pantheon, but Sol Invictus does not, to my knowledge, have a correlative in Greek mythology. I have quite a bit to study yet, though.

Sylvan Unrepentant goofer duster Jun 5, 2012 #4 The wikipedia article is very interesting, and is definitely informing the conversation I'm having in another thread about modernizing the gods. This middle-eastern worship of big meteorites or other large stones is fascinating. Down to the Kaaba today.

Stella Polaris | Neutiquam Erro | Jun 19, 2012 #5 Here's an article about him: Christ, Constantine, Sol Invictus http://www.tertullian.org/rpearse/sol_invictus.htm http://www.mindserpent.com/American_History/introduction/footnotes/ft_sol_invictus_001.html http://www.livius.org/he-hg/heliogabalus/heliogabalus-religion.html There's also a book -- The Cult of Sol Invictus By Gaston H. Halsberghe You can view some of it on Google Books - The Cult of Sol Invictus - Gaston H. Halsberghe - Google Books I'd say, that has the most info you'd find on him! Also, if you research Mithras, there's an overlap. Last edited: Jun 19, 2012
