For people considering themselves to be heavy Christian followers.

1. Have you read the entire bible?
2. What are your views on homosexuals?
3. Justify your answer to number 2
4. What are your views on non Christians?
5. What are your views on Extraterrestrial Life?
6. What are your views evolution and other sciences that go against Christianity?
7. Have you ever read a holy book other than the bible?

I know these questions have probably been asked a ton of times, if so, I'm sorry. (Please note, I am not a Christian and have never been in a Church. I have read large tracts of the Bible, but don't follow or interpret its teachings.)

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
First of all, you do know that you posted this in the Christian DIR, so there will be no debate on the validity of Christianity or it's basic principles - right?

Now that we've got that unpleasantness out of the way, let's take a look at your post:

For people considering themselves to be heavy Christian followers.

1. Have you read the entire bible?
2. What are your views on homosexuals?
3. Justify your answer to number 2
4. What are your views on non Christians?
5. What are your views on Extraterrestrial Life?
6. What are your views evolution and other sciences that go against Christianity?
7. Have you ever read a holy book other than the bible?

Heavy - well, I'm about average build.

Have I read the entire bible? Yes though I admit I did get bogged down and cheat a bit during some of the "begats" in the Old Testament.

What are my views on homosexuals? Well, I believe that all sex outside of marriage falls short of the ideals presented in the bible. However, I also believe that consenting adults should be allowed by society and the law to do whatever they want to do, as long as they are not infringing on the rights of others, or demanding that others subsidize their life choices.

As for justifying that answer - I think it's common sense. But hey, that's just me.

Non Christians - what do you mean, what are my views? Do you mean, do I tolerate them? Like them? Want them to freely live their own beliefs? The answer to all of those is, generally YES.

On extraterrestrial life - I guess it's a possiblilty. Why not?

On evolution - I'm not so sure it goes against Christian beliefs. I believe that God created all things, including humans. I believe that He created humans in His image. Now HOW He did that is a whole other story. Maybe He used evolution. Maybe not. Whether He did or not doesn't change or impact my belief system at all.

As for other holy books - I've read the Book of Mormon and the Koran.

It might serve you better to break these questions into separate thread titles.

Heavy - I too am of average build, slightly on the thin side. I try to follow Jesus as opposed to following other "Christians," regardless of weight, but leaving semantic ambiguity aside...

1.) Read it (66 books,) yes. Studied and completly understand 100% of it, no.
2.) Sinners, like the rest of us.
3.) God doesn't seem to approve of the practice (Leviticus), therfore it is sin. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans.)
4.) I view them as potential Christians.
5.) Depends on the definition of "extraterrestrial." If "extraterrestrial" is taken slighlty more literally than it normally is and simply refers to beings that don't live on earth, then I believe they do exist (angels, demons etc.)
6.) I see these sciences, like creationism, as requiring the observer to have some degree of faith in them in order for them to be correct.
7.) I don't believe there is another "holy" book, so no, I've not read a holy book other than the Bible.

1. Have you read the entire bible?
No, but I'm on my way haha. I think I probably have read about 20 or so books, but many of them are 3+ times.

2. What are your views on homosexuals?
You should clarify your question, because there is a difference between homosexuality and homosexuals. I'll answer for the latter; they need Jesus in their life, but I would treat them the same way as any other person.

3. Justify your answer to number 2
Everyone needs Jesus in their life. And one of Jesus's desire for us was to spread love, and so I would do that for homosexuals as well as another Christian or an unbeliever (obviously not physical love ;)).

4. What are your views on non Christians?
See answer 3.

5. What are your views on Extraterrestrial Life?
Haha it sounds like a cope-out but no comment. Theres no biblical evidence one way or the other, and to be honest it doesn't matter. I have other, much more important things to think about and discuss than trivial questions.

6. What are your views evolution and other sciences that go against Christianity?
Hmm, once again I think you might need to rephrase your question but I think I know what you mean. What do I think about the fact that the universe is proven to be some 16 billion years old (Earth is like 6 isn't it?) and the Bible says the earth was created in seven days (5 before the appearance of humans). Well, I do have certain ideas but my stance is the same for question 5. I honestly haven't spent enough time to put forth an answer because the answer to that question does absolutely nothing for mine or anyone else's salvation.

7. Have you ever read a holy book other than the bible?
Bits and pieces, but I haven't been able to study one. I hope to read the Quran, but that would be kind of like a perspective thing.

For people considering themselves to be heavy Christian followers.

1. Have you read the entire bible? Yes

2. What are your views on homosexuals? It is sexual immorality because it goes against the natural order.

3. Justify your answer to number 2 Bible accounts show what Gods attitude toward the practice was. Some of the verses where it is mentioned are: Leviticus 18:22; Leviticus 20:13, 1 Kings 14:24, 1Timothy 1:10, 1Cor 6:9, Jude 7, Romans 1:27,

4. What are your views on non Christians? Only that we all have the free will to decide what we want to do with our lives and we all make our own decisions. Some choose to put faith in Christ and others dont. Thats their choice. its a choice we make whether we do it willfully or in ignorance and we will all be held accountable for our decision.

5. What are your views on Extraterrestrial Life?
I dont believe it exists.

6. What are your views evolution and other sciences that go against Christianity?
The only science i know of that goes against christianity is evolution, and my view on it is that in its current form, it is wrong in the area of all species coming from a common ancestor. It has no foundation on where evolution began, ie abiogenesis, and therefore it cannot be assumed that life arose spontaneously and began to evolve from that point. I think eventually, the scienctific community will have to change their theory to be more inline with an initial creation of life in its various reproductive kinds (as genesis states) and then the evolution of animals from within those kinds will be more accurately understood.

7. Have you ever read a holy book other than the bible?
I've read parts of the book of mormon, various apocryphal writings like book of enoch and thomas, and parts of the koran.

I'd like to respond to your questions even though I'm not heavy. ;)

1. Have you read the entire bible?
No.
2. What are your views on homosexuals?
I only know a handful of homosexuals personally. They're nice enough.
3. Justify your answer to number 2
What's to justify?
4. What are your views on non Christians?
Pretty much the same as my views on homosexuals, except that I know more non-Christians so I have a larger group to either like or dislike.
5. What are your views on Extraterrestrial Life?
I believe in it.
6. What are your views evolution and other sciences that go against Christianity?
I'll be darned. Here I've been a Christian my whole life and I never knew that science was anti-Christian.
7. Have you ever read a holy book other than the bible?
Yes.

1. Have you read the entire bible?

I'm a little on the skinny side, and am at this point (re)-exploring Christianity, but I'll answer anyway, if it's all the same to you.

Yes. I was in Catholic school for 13 years, youth groups my whole childhood, etc. Then I took theology courses in University, and have continued using the Bible as part of my exploration. I've read that sucker cover to cover. Not all in one spell, but certainly over the years.

2. What are your views on homosexuals?

They are people, and their sexual preference has no bearing on me or my life.

3. Justify your answer to number 2

I think it's hard-wired, not a choice, they don't choose to be gay anymore than I choose to be straight. It just is. 50 years ago, we thought being left-handed was something to worry about, and parents the world 'round tried to teach their left-handed children right-handedness. Now, it ain't no thing. In 50 years, I believe we will all be laughing at our follies of this age.

4. What are your views on non Christians?

Depends who they are. I tend to get on well with nice people. If they're not so nice, we probably won't get along well. I don't care too much what religion they are, so long as they act out of a place of kindness and integrity. I have enough humility to know that I don't know what's best for others. I can only make my own assessment about my own truth and my own life.

5. What are your views on Extraterrestrial Life?

I think it's out there, though in what capacity, I couldn't tell you. The universe is huge, and we are so very small...

6. What are your views evolution and other sciences that go against Christianity?

I don't believe the two are in direct conflict, so long as one is not assigning absolute literal meaning to the Bible. Afterall, so much of the Bible was used metaphorically, and Jesus often spoke metaphorically. I have no reason to think that the few convenient passages that promote ignorance or bigotry are the only ones that are to be interpreted literally.

7. Have you ever read a holy book other than the bible?

Not in huge detail, but I have availed myself of them, in particular for University studies, and just personal interest.

Respectfully,

Cricket

1) I don't think so...

2) Love them.

3) John 13:34-5

4) Same as #2

5) Why not?

6) That they don't go against Christianity

7) Not entirely, but I have read parts of the Quran, Daodejing, some Mormon texts and maybe a few others I can't remember...

1. Yes.
2. I believe they are children of God, just like the rest of us. I do not have a strong opinion about gay marriage. One thing is for sure, we must always show love rather than hate. That is something I feel strongly, that all of us must reach out to homosexuals who all too often feel ostracized and outcast.
3. Hmm... Jesus said love everyone?
4. Umm... They are responsible to act in accordance with the light that they have. All people have differing amounts of knowledge about God and right and wrong. Good people are good people, regardless of religions. Evil people are evil people, regardless of religion. But evil people that know better are a lot worse than evil people who are ignorant and mislead.
5. I believe that God has created worlds without end.
6. How does evolution or other science go against God? Evolution is an obvious process in Biology. Sometimes religious traditions are shown to be incorrect by science, such as YEC. All people need to learn to let go of false traditions when a better way is shown to them (i.e. more accurate). This applies to theology, science, etc.
7. The Book of Mormon. The Quran. Hmm... None others yet. I would like to read some Hindu literature.

1. I've missed some chunks out cos I'm lazy, but I've read most of it. :D

2. They're cool kids.

3. Paul says that women should not speak in church. I, as well as many other Christians, believe that that was merely Paul's own opinion and rooted in the Jewish traditions of the time rather than spoken by the divine authority of God. In the same way, this can be applied to homosexuality, that its sinfulness is instead rooted in tradition rather than reality. But to be honest, I'm not entirely sure. It can be seen as unnatural, and as such sinful. In this case, homosexuals are sinners just like all of us, and really are no more an abomination than we are.

4. Non-Christians? The large majority of people I know are non-Christians. My best friend is a non-Christian. I have no particular views on them. And no, I don't think all non-Christians will go to Hell. All people will be judged on the good and bad that they have done, but those that acknowledge Jesus will just have an easier time. :D

5. It's a possibility. Doesn't really bother me though. I guess it'll be cool if all those sci-fi films became a reality.

6. I've never heard of a science that goes against Christianity. And it doesn't bother me too much anyway. Evolution is probably true, but I don't really care. It doesn't affect my salvation, and doesn't take away the fact that God created the world. Whether He used evolution to do it, I dunno, but really it doesn't affect me or my faith.

7. No, sadly I haven't. I might do in the future though.
