I'm not trying to disprove the Bible, I'm just trying to find out what it says. What I know for sure is that it isn't God's word, nor should it be taken literally.
What would you know about the teachings of Jesus without it?
Why read it if you can ignore what it says with impunity?
Jude 4..
."For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ." (NASB)
There's the warning.
So this is my new mantra.
Who needs to hear it? You? Us? Or God?
"I don't believe the Bible is the word of God, I believe the word of God is what I hear through the words of the Bible"
But then, don't you run the risk of selective hearing.....?
What if it
IS the word of God and you are ignoring much of what it teaches? Will God accept your mantra? What if he doesn't?
It remains true, that the easiest person on the planet to fool, is ourselves.
Your choices are yours to make, but consider what happens if you are mistaken.
