So I saw the movie Sound of Freedom yesterday. It was disturbing but I would recommend every adult see it. It is about sex trafficking of children and it is horrifying. It is a Christian film; However, I would not let that turn off the non Christian. It has some references to God and Christianity but the point of the movie is to tell a story about sex trafficking of children across the globe and in the US. The only two other movies I cried at were Bengie Come Home and Schindler's List. Here are some statistics from the movie:

There are an estimated 2,000,000 child sex slaves in the world.
Sex slavery is a $150B annual business that will surpass drug trade soon.
An estimated 20% of sex slaves in the world are children.
There are an estimated 15,000 to 50,000 sex slaves brought into the US every year.

I wonder if we can all come together to solve this problem at least in the US? Not sure how to go about it but large protests like the summer of 2020 less the violence would be appropriate. Demand our politicians to talk about it and demand action of some kind. Contribute to organizations that are trying to free these children. Last I saw we still have $500 billion or so in Covid relief not spent. Lets start with that money to free these children. Secure the border so we know who is coming into this country. The O.U.R. Rescue website linked below has many opportunities to volunteer and help.

If we cannot come together and put our political differences aside for this then we are truly lost. The tag line of sorts is "God's children are not for sale". I am not a believer in God but I agree no child is for sale.

I won't come together over that particular organization which is a LDS Qanoner led group which has targetted voluntary sex work by consenting adults as sex trafficking, who pushes inhumane immigration policy under the guise of calls to emotion, and who does more celebrity donor events than actual saving. But yes, sex trafficking/human trafficking in general is a real and serious problem. Sure would be nice if we didn't keep critically underfunding organizations like the FBI whose job within the US government includes researching and busting trafficking rings, whom we could conceivably move tax spending to. Then we wouldn't need dubious religious mercenary groups.

If you don't like this organization then find another one or advocate for more funding to the FBI if you think that is going to help. I am for more funding to the FBI if it actually goes to solving this issue.

I just wanted to reply to this for people that might read these accusations. In researching the organization I do not think these are true. If they are some evidence would be required before they should be believed. You can go to the site and look for yourself. The financials and yearly reports of what they do are open to the public and verified by a third party firm. You may have them confused with another group.

Sadly I am not confusing them with another group. Tim Ballard (LDS) and Jim Caviezel both have peddled qanon conspiracy theories of false child trafficking, though the former has distanced himself from qanon since then and since gone all 'transgender ideology and Biden's immigration endangers kids!' and the latter has moved on to organ harvesting children's blood conspiracy theories instead.

He also openly criticized a legal sex working website (Backpage) saying you either end them or you'll be allowing sex trafficking. Which is not surprising that an LDS conservative would be against legal consenting sex work.

I'm not really as concerned with their financials, per say. Big charity that takes in way more donor money than it spends, takes credit for the actions of other agencies while hero LARPing, big shock.

How are we going to pay for it? Reverse tax cuts on the wealthy?

Ok, still no evidence. Thank for the input.

I think I understand why few people want to talk about solving this problem.

It is an uncomfortable topic to talk about.
Some people may have some trauma talking about it from their past experiences.
It is unbelievable that so many people would traffic kids as well as pay to abuse them sexually.
Feeling of helplessness.

If the organization I posted is the issue then don't donate to them. I am not advocating for them I am trying advocating for the children that are trafficked. I am trying to figure out how we can get more attention and buy in from people and the government to solve this problem in the US. It seems like a topic that should not be a republican vs democrat issue. Surely we can come together to figure out how to solve the problem.

Our society will debate endlessly on what a woman is but we all don't care to talk about sex trafficked children that we know is happening in the US.

It's not LARPing they do. We LARPers are harmless nerds who dress in a costume to play a game. We don't need lumped in with these dellusional ****s who are dangerous vigilantees.

Tell the MAGA wackos to stop calling for Congress to defund the FBI and the DOJ then.

There should be a congratulatory celebration as the MAGA wackos are in perfect alignment with the leftest wackos in the call to defund the police and related law enforcement agencies and institutions.

The FBI doesn't lack funding to go after people who were walking around the Capitol on J6. Amazingly, the FBI hasn't charged ANY of Jeffrey Epstein's clients, which is undoubtedly a "who's who" of Washington elites. Bill Barr, a charter member of the Washington establishment, made SURE that Epstein would NEVER talk.

Oh yeah. The difference is between the police needlessly killing people and the FBI/DOJ doing their job and investigating Trump.

I still legitimately can’t believe QAnon is like a thing. Despite having watched (admittedly leftist) streamers react to them for hours now lol.

It’s strangely fascinating to watch. Unfortunately it has apparently come with a heavy price. If the subreddit QAnonCasualties is to be believed

Yikes!

I see claims of that from dubious sources so I have my doubts. When one hears of massage parlor busts and "trafficking' those do appear to be illegal fronts for prostitution, but no sex trafficking charges ever seem to materialize. From what I have heard most women are looking for a way to make a buck. Poverty can be a very powerful force.
