Often I will listen to a bhajan or prayer and my heart will blossom with love and happiness. Right now I am listening to a version of the mangalacarana by gaudia vaishnavas. It always makes me feel love and devotion:

YouTube - Hare Krsna

Which spiritual songs have this affect on you? Or at least, which are your favourite?

Thanks;) i just got curious 'cause I've been interested by your religion ever since. I'm a Christian though but I respect your beliefs.:)

That's cool, I was wondering what your religion was. I figured it wasn't just MJism ;)

When you say 'my religion' do you Hinduism or Gaudiya Vaishnvism (ie/ Hare Krishnas)?

I heard from someone that Vaishnavs goal is not Mukti. It is actually to experience the Maha Leela Raas of Sri Krishna in Goloka. Please enlighten me with more information.

Our goal is mukti but our understanding of it is different. Our goal is to go back home to God/Krishna. Because we are of the same substance as he is, that is where we belong and because we are not the same as him, liberation can not be merging with him or losing our identity but to be in eternal relationship with him.

Are there any songs like this for Christians (or religiously-neutral)?

Stuff like this might help me with my self-hypnosis attempts, but I don't want to feel like I'm worshipping a god other than my own doing so =/.

I don't know, you will have to look yourself. I haven't come across any moving Christian songs myself, although I like Gregorian style singing in Latin which is common in Europe.

But my religion is Hinduism, and these particular songs make me feel closer to God. It is entirely subjective, and anything that makes you feel the same way is a treasure :)

below is Hypnotic ,neutral ,universal music

YouTube - Ek Onkaar

ੴ (ek onkaar)= One Universal Creator

jath paahaaraa dhheeraj suniaar ||
Let self-control be the furnace, and patience the goldsmith.

aharan math vaedh hathheeaar ||
Let understanding be the anvil, and spiritual wisdom the tools.

bho khalaa agan thap thaao ||
With the Fear of God as the bellows, fan the flames of tapa, the body's inner heat.

bhaa(n)ddaa bhaao a(n)mrith thith dtaal ||
In the crucible of love, melt the Nectar of the Name,

gharreeai sabadh sachee ttakasaal ||
and mint the True Coin of the Shabad, the Word of God.

jin ko nadhar karam thin kaar ||
Such is the karma of those upon whom He has cast His Glance of Grace.

naanak nadharee nadhar nihaal ||38||
O Nanak, the Merciful Lord, by His Grace, uplifts and exalts them. ||38||

Thanks, I'll try it sometime :). Some of the words sound a bit Hindu (who's Nanak? True Coin of the Shabad? I'ma google when I get the chance), but it's close enough. Won't really matter since I'll probably just forget what the words mean anyway :). If God has a problem, he can talk to me about it :).

Thanks for replying..I understand it now.:)

Is this philosophy based on scriptures such as Bhagvat Purana and Chaitanya Charitamrita?

The philosophy is dvaitadvaita, both the same and different. The theology of it is based on the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, as well as a handful of other scriptures.

Glad I can help :D
