Yes, I'm left-handed. No shame about it. As a Jew I find myself in morning prayers checking out how many lefties are there wherever I go to see who I can count on in a pinch to borrow left-handed tefillin (phylacteries). As an unfortunate occasional user of scissors, I dislike right-handed scissor bias. As a writer and artist I'm eternally forced to endure smudges on my hand. Y'all know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I was curious to know who here is left-handed.
What are your thoughts on being a southpaw?

Right-handed and those rare ambis are also welcome to participate.

I sympathize. I didn't write much in school because of the smudges. I did love showing off that I could draw left-handed.

Online tests say that I'm between 55 and 95% right-handed. I can't write or draw with my left hand (I can hardly write with my right), but I can use almost all tools left- and right-handed. It's a useful skill as you often can't reach with your right hand what is easy with the left.

I'll admit that on the other side of the aisle I'm not actually 100% left-handed. For example, I usually hold a spoon in my right hand.

I fire a handgun slightly better left-handed. I'm good with archery left-handed but better right. I totally suck at chopsticks left-handed. I guess things take practice and effort.

Many left-handed people have managed to use their right hand - out of necessity.
That's not the same for right-handed people, but it is useful for us also. Especially for teachers who should be able to show something to left- and right-handed pupils. E.g., I can tie any knot left- and right-handed to show people how to do it with their preferences.

Mixed-handed here.
I write with my left hand, but do most other things with my right hand.
There are also activities of which I'm not sure which side "feels" better, such as painting or swinging a bat, though I have a natural tendency to gravitate towards left-handedness in the two actions mentioned.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I am right handed but I do have a left handed kid. He's also got ADHD and he's dyslexic and has a super high IQ.

His dad (now my ex) once got him a right handed glove for baseball.

Yeah, I'm left hand dominant. I use my right hand for some things but I'm mostly left handed. It's led to my left arm, from shoulder to wrist, being ruined by bone injuries and nerve damage. Now I wish I were right handed. I wasn't even taught how to hold a pencil/pen correctly and so even writing hurts my hand.

I wish the media were more neutral on the subject.

Shills for left handedness in our media:
  • David Muir: The anchor of ABC World News Tonight.
  • Anderson Cooper: The host of CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360°.
  • Diane Sawyer: A former anchor for ABC World News.
