Chopped down the Oak tree of the sacred Thor/Donar, of the European Germanic Pagans.

The 'Saint' Who Chopped Down Thor's Sacred Tree | Hindu Human Rights Worldwide
The Hesse were surprised that their god, Wodan, did nothing after Boniface chopped down his holy tree.
The Frisians had a more refined faith. They knew that the tree wasn't really the province of the gods but a symbol of faith and that they owned it. Boniface was found to be guilty of property damage (and blasphemy but that wasn't the reason) and brought to justice.

Although Boniface should not have chopped the sacred tree of the pagans, to me that the author of your article appears to see Boniface's death as karmic retribution seems to imply that justice was served.

I question the ethics of that because I value human life more than what I value sacred objects. Therefore I find it ironic that a website with "human rights" as part of the name appears to imply that justice was served for the taking of a life in retribution to what amounts to blasphemy.

In my opinion.
