Starbucks and Xmas idiocy

I don't know. I haven't been to one in ages. It used to be there was only one of them in town. We have a ton of amazing locally-owned coffee shops. Now there are more Star$#@%s. I get worried about the local places going under, especially the one shop that carries excellent looseleaf tea that passes muster for even the most snobbish tea lover.

Star$#@%s took over Teavana too. I sometimes still go there, but they've become a lot more... I don't know... gimmicky since the takeover. Less of a proper tea snob place and more of a "I'm trying to be hip and cool with fancy blend names" place.

Yay, you're officially more awesome than you were already! :D

Fully agreed. The local places can be the most unique and relaxing and coolest places around and have awesome food/drinks.

I prefer Casey's coffee to be honest. Especially the Kona. As for the rest of this, this is the only way Starbucks matter to me:

Peets is way better that Starbucks anyway. If y'all have Peets near you, give them a try. Yes it's still semi-overpriced coffee but IMO it's way better than bitter Starbucks.

And hopefully Peets won't be part of this terrible War on Christmas!

all this talk of Starbucks has given me a craving for coffee... the irony here is that every coffee place within walking distance will be closing in 15 minutes...and the only one left open will be...... Starbucks

I don't buy coffee out.
But I do see Starbucks as the WalMart of coffee. A big conglomerate that smashes local businesses with deep pockets and a "brand" that superficial people will pay for while complaining about the destruction caused by big conglomerates.

Here's how vital coffee is. I had to run out of the house in a hurry this morning to get to the hospital on time (vehicle and ride juggling) and I remembered to run back in to grab my coffee off the counter...but forgot my keys. So was locked out of house when dropped off. Had to go around and bang on and yell through bedroom windows to wake my heavy sleeping man to let us in. Hey, but at least I had my coffee. ;)

I find Trump's commentary to be reasonable.....

His lack of caring is exemplary.

"I have one of the most successful Starbucks, in Trump Tower. Maybe we should boycott Starbucks? I don't know. Seriously, I don't care. That's the end of that lease, but who cares?" Trump told a crowd in Springfield, Illinois, on Monday. "If I become president, we're all going to be saying Merry Christmas again, that I can tell you. That I can tell you."

Um, is that some sort of threat? Am I going to be required to say Merry Christmas?

This seems to be a case of "Christian privilege". That is, the sense that Starbucks owes them something just because they are Christians and, consequently, should be privileged. Thank goodness far from all Christians have such a pathetically juvenile sense of their rights and privileges.

I have boycotted Starbucks for many years now, and for entirely moral reasons-- their coffee is demonic possessed.

I don't care for their heavy, acidic roasts. Reminds me of the sour, big brand coffees that were sold when I was growing up (and are still sold in some cases).
