State Department Admits Deleting Public Record Footage On Iran Deal

Seems that the State Department got caught deleting footage of a reporter questioning State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki on aspects of the Iran nuclear deal.
At first the State Department attempted to do a CYA that the missing video was nothing more than a "glitch". Strange though is that the "glitch" was around 8 min long and the interchange was not exactly in the State Departments favor.

and for those of you who will not accept a "factual" article from FNC

Did you actually read the CNN article in terms of who caught that someone deleted it and why it was deleted it was apparently deleted in the first place?

Kirby noted that the full briefing transcript, including the exchange on Iran, had always been available on the State Department website and that the omitted video has since been replaced with a complete version that had been archived with the Defense Department.

He said that was the only instance he was aware of in which briefing videos were edited, though he couldn't be sure there weren't others. He announced a new policy Wednesday in which every video would be posted immediately with all edits disclosed.

"To my surprise, the Bureau of Public Affairs did not have in place any rules governing this type of action," he said. "Therefore, we are taking immediate steps to craft appropriate protocols on this issue, as we believe that deliberately removing a portion of the video was not and is not in keeping with the State Department's commitment to transparency and public accountability."
There ya have it. The full transcript was available and they are taking steps to correct the issue. What more is there to discuss?

So what are you attempting to put forth in the above statement. I see nothing that addresses the issue, just a possible spin mode.

To answer your question who caught the deletion of parts of the press briefing it was James Rosen of Fox News
from the CNN article
When James Rosen of Fox News -- who asked the original questions of Psaki -- tried to refer back to the video last month, he found the exchange had been deleted
Now to your question on why it was deleted. No I see no reference in either article for a reason why the interchange between Rosen and Psaki was deleted. Maybe you can enlighten us as to the "why".
However one could assume it was because Psaki admitted the administration lied.
again from the CNN article
After it was revealed in December 2013 that secret talks between the U.S. and Iran actually had taken place, then-spokeswoman Jen Psaki admitted the administration lied in order to protect the secret negotiations.

I was not referring to Rossen as you took a different take on what I was saying, and I did actually cover the other question if you reread what I posted last.

Why is this news? I assumed this behavior was part of the job description for all federal employees considering how often it happens...

I think you are attempting to back track. Let's look at what you said word for word: "Did you actually read the CNN article in terms of who caught that someone deleted it" If it wasn't Rossen who found that it had been deleted who in your mind discovered.that it had been deleted.

No you did not even attempt to give a reason for why it was deleted. Your statement word for word
"and why it was deleted it was apparently deleted in the first place"
The above makes no sense. Just what are you attempting to say.

I saw that video months ago. This is the latest RW 'scandal' that they can pin to the state department. They must be running low on new material.

Dodging and weaving again I see. Won't you ever learn?
It's only new in conservative media land. If you watched legitimate news you would have seen this already months ago. Be careful, your media isn't who you think they are.

No I'm just attempting to placate those that have a closed mind.
You have a nasty habit of presenting inaccurate, borderline falsified stories because you find those agendas more attractive. I am just happy to see you make a post (for once) that has some credibility. ;)

Could it be that I find articles that consist of factual information vice only opinionated drivel?:D

So it seems you do not have a problem with the State Department hiding stories that shed bad light on them? I say this because if you knew about it months ago one would have thought you would have a problem with it.
However, I think you have misspoken about knowing about it months ago.
in December of 2013, then spokesperson Jen Psaki was asked by Fox News James Rosen if officials ever lie to the public to protect national security. This is what she said:

“James, I think there are times where diplomacy needs privacy in order to progress. This is a good example of that,” Psaki replied to Fox News reporter James Rosen.

That portion of the video was edited out of what the State Department posted that day. The missing video was actually only discovered three weeks ago and when the State Department was confronted about it, they said it was merely a “glitch.”

Source of the above http://www.redstate.com/jaycaruso/2...nt-admits-they-lied-and-tried-to-cover-it-up/

You will not that the article is dated 1 June 2016. and it states "The missing video was actually only discovered three weeks ago"

So how did you know there was a 8min edit of the video?????

I saw that video long before your media. Your media is playing it 24/7 for a couple reasons only.

-State department related (another dig at Hillary)
-Running out of material, create new stuff
-Act as if video was intentionally altered to hide evidence (conspiracy theory)

I see no problem with the video or the editing. If it happened with a republican admin, I could care less either. These are tiny invented 'scandals.' It's just more confirmation bias so you think Hillary is corrupt. Your media is very good at politicizing everything. Your media isn't news, it's 24/7 republican politics and talking points.

I thought you guys hate the establishment? Why would you get your information from them? They're crooked.

As I stated in another thread you are wasting my data allotment. Go find someone else to bug.

Um, apparently you missed this right at the beginning of the CNN link:
"Part of a video of a State Department press briefing addressing secret talks between the U.S. and Iran was deliberately deleted before it was posted online, an investigation by the department's legal adviser found Wednesday...".

Also, the unedited video was continuously available on Youtube.

While I'm at it, why don't you ever focus in on Trumps many lies and distortions, as well as his many anti-Mexican statements, including against a judge that's dealing with the trial against Trump University?
