Still looking

Speed doesn't kill, it's hitting the wall
Had a few interesting conversations in the past few days . First one was with a good friend who is a Bahai, lovely women very caring and gentle. Asked me if I was interested in coming to one of their monthly meetings to which I replied, 'no thanks", I have no interest in religious meetings. However if your getting a group of people together and its about sharing what God is doing in our lives, then I'll come and probably be the 1st their, otherwise no thanks.

Second conversation was this morning at a local church, "charismatic /fundamental . A lady told me she had been looking for a church where the uncompromising truth was preached and not peoples opinion. I asked her what the truth was and she just looked at me with a dazed look and said "Jesus is the truth"

Maybe one day I'll find a group of intelligent, God loving critical thinkers who are more interested in sharing life together than promoting their religious ideals.

Is this brain washing on a cataclysmic scale.

I really liked your signature line, and would not mind talking with you as you seem to have a unique view, maybe along the lines I think. However, I see quite a few way a conversation could go, do you have a particular direction in mind?

Disclaimer: Anything, I say are my own thoughts, in no way do I want anyone to think I speak or any church, or God,I only speak for myself and my views.

A Christian I feel is anyone who believes in Christ; what He teaches and the way He feels we should relate to God and others. In other words I do not feel you need to believe in His existence, just His teachings. If you believe in His concepts you believe in Him, and are a Christian.

I do believe that Jesus does exist, but only after I came to accept His teaching and His concepts, for me that came first. After that believing He is God and is alive was easy, if I believe in Him and his concepts why would He lie.

That may not be very clear but, at least gets my basic thoughts out there.

Have you ever read any of Bishop John Spong's books?

I put it in and did a search on it. I read some of the reviews and the Bio on it. It looks interesting and I will need to look at it further.

I agree, it was a genuine invitation, but I have NO interest in being or doing religious programs, there’s no life in it for me just ritual and bondage

I have no interest in sitting in a box and listen to people talk about nature i would rather be in nature. I say getting the gospel from the source is a whole lot better than second hand, or third, or 4th, and so on, and so on.

Spend enough time with the source and the bible starts to make sense and the people in the boxes talking about nature make absolutely no sense.

I feel no inclination to talk to others about God when they belong to a group or religion thinking theirs is the "truth".
Only when they say "I do not understand anything about God" then I feel like sharing my thoughts
People who say "I know all about God" I do not feel like talking about spirituality to them
Mostly, in my experience, it becomes a one way monologue with them
