Stone & Trump

WASHINGTON — Senior Justice Department officials intervened to overrule front-line prosecutors and will recommend a more lenient sentencing for Roger J. Stone Jr., convicted last year of impeding investigators in a bid to protect his longtime friend President Trump, a senior department official said Tuesday.

The move is highly unusual and is certain to generate allegations of political interference. It came after federal prosecutors in Washington asked a judge late Monday evening to sentence Mr. Stone to seven to nine years in prison on seven felony convictions for trying to sabotage a congressional investigation that threatened Mr. Trump.

Early on Tuesday, Mr. Trump declared the sentencing recommendation “horrible and very unfair.

:facepalm:Isn't it horrible how people refuse to recognize that he's the KING EMPEROR and insist that laws are meaningful. I'm sure he'll fix that in his second 4 years or his son who is to follow him will fix it.

It seems the attorneys office misled the DOJ about their sentencing intentions so what did they expect? But in the "orange man bad" clown world all types of silly little conspiracy theories can be hatched, it seems such a simple matter to understand.

From article:
"The recommendation was higher than what the United States attorney’s office had told Justice Department officials it would suggest, according to the official, and the department decided soon after the filing to override the prosecutors’ decision."

What it really boils down to is 7-9 years for talking trash to someone on a telephone. That's pretty absurd. People in this country don't get that sort of sentence for holding up a stop and rob with a loaded gun. Beyond that it's never been proven that he had any connection to Wikileaks or anything else, but how do you interfere with a Russian Collusion that didn't happen? :D The sentencing for this entire situation is absolutely bonkers and politically driven.

Even if truly guilty on all counts, I'd still expect a 1-2 year sentence with supervision -- Stone would be a first time offender for a non-violent crime with possible reductions for cooperation and or good behavior in the future. If Trump commutes or pardons it'll be completely in regard to this, and I'd tend to agree even though I don't care much for Stone.

There are laws for a reason. 7 felonies? Convicted by Jury. No one is above the law, not even the president!

Really?

Joe Biden and his son Hunter are going to get away with what they did, no problem, and I'm quite sure you are ok with that.

Obama is going to forever get away with outright soliciting election interference in his second election, a solicitation that was caught ON TAPE...no problem.

No, sir.

The rules are not being applied evenly.

According to who? The problem with conspiracy theories is when people make them mainstream. Then we all get to enjoy lowering our IQ's together!

More of the same. Read above.

3 RW conspiracy theories = 3 strikes you're out!

Exactly
The Russian collusion delusion had plenty of help from those who should have known better and plenty of passive and aggressive propagandists preaching from their electric pulpits to make sure the common folk knew it was true.
But it was false

-they are actually ducks

All Trump does is lie and con people. The marks are oblivious.
Trump's been that way his entire entitled life.

Please let's realize Donald J. Trump has totally redeemed himself by leading "America into unprecedented economy prosperity with his executive actions of enacting regulation cuts, U.S. withdrawal from the Paris climate treaty, American energy self-sufficiency, fair and balanced trade deals like U.S.M.C.A. and the China Phase One, and approval of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017; all this of our Trump-led Trumped-up economy leading to record prosperity with record high stock valuations, record employment opportunities for minorities, real wage growth for the middle class, and reduced poverty. Furthermore, Trump has helped strengthened our nation's security by way of having border security improved, the withdrawal of U.S. troops from endless wars, and the appointment of conservative judges." - Salvador

Also, please let's realize Donald J. Trump has exuded the redeemable quality of generosity by way of donating his Presidential salary to agencies helping needy people.

Unfortunately, there is nothing saying your jury has to be smart. It's pretty easy to deceive a jury by limiting the evidence presented or presenting information out of context. But, I think it's funny that Dems are all down on the lynch mob action on Stone. Don't worry Dems, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Dems will 100% lose 2020 elections, and then there is going to be hell to pay. Just you wait. :D

Personally, any judge worth their title would have just thrown this case out of court for being partisan BS. But, I guess that's hard when your prosecutors, judge, and whatever else are on the same political side. (The elites, and the bleeding heart left.) If the FBI is investigating Presidential Campaigns and their associates unless it's a violent crime I think it's doing the wrong job. There are gangsters, violent offenders, and people putting nasty things like opiods and meth on the streets. You really care about some guy talking with Wikileaks or the Trump campaign on Twitter? Please... That's just not these guys jobs, and it isn't what I pay for. Stone certainly lied and I know that's wrong, but I think what he lied about was probably none of their business anyway and is certainly in the realm of private conversations that aren't hurting anyone and/or part of press protections. (Stone was involved with media, we could argue he has the right to inquire with campaigns and wikileaks to confirm information.)

Of course there will, political reprisal is the mark of a dictator! It is our Republic's very rule of law that is at stake.

And where are those supposed indictments, which can be brought forth even within lower federal courts and possibly even state courts depending on which laws may be violated?

Yep, with your post above, you've made it clear that you in of the "Lock Them Up!" camp that we at least used to call "lynch-mob mentality".

As for myself, I make no such judgement either way on the Bidens.
