Strange Dreams

What are the strangest dreams you've experienced?

I remember one in which I giant, upright pig in futuristic armor walked into my kitchen as my family was eating lunch. It smashed the plate on which I was eating potato chips. Then my mother (I was little) drove us to what seemed like a futuristic gas station, purchased a paint brush. We came back home and she told me to wait in another room. Then she rushed into the kitchen again. The dream ended, but somehow I knew that she was going to somehow fight the giant pig with the paintbrush.

...And people say dreams have meaning. :areyoucra

In another, a grocery store was full of water, and people were rowing through it by canoe.

Heh finalfrodo high strangeness for sure. Despite the surreal nature of many dreams the consistent narrative they have is fascinating to me. I would love to understand why our minds tell these stories when we're dreaming or dosing.

Last night I had an interesting dream. I showered and for some reason I had long hair with highlights. Anyway, I got out of the shower and there was someone important hanging above the stairs... murdered. There are all these people around that were supposed to keep this from happening, but they obviously failed. From there it turns into a battle that is waged across several floors and onto the roof with SMGs and katanas everywhere. I fought my way out and ended up on the subway. Once again, I was ambushed and then I woke up.

I had a dream where I was fighting in WWII (I must play too many first-person shooters). It was in a bombed out city and there were some Nazis on the second floor shooting out at me, so I took a grenade and threw it into their window and killed them. There was also a tank, but it didn't seem to pose too much of a threat. I also got into some hand-to-hand combat with a Nazi, whom I ended up stabbing and killing. I also remember another Nazi and I were looking at eachother, both hurrying to reload so we could kill the other - of course, me being so bad a**, I got my gun reloaded first and killed him. Don't remember anything after that, but that was an awesome dream. What's better than killing Nazi scum? :p

:biglaugh: That's like a combination of all the prominent scenes in every WW2 movie.

I had a dream that I was a dolphin once. I was having a cute little fun time in the ocean. Just playing around. That was the most indirectly homosexual dream I think I ever had.:D

Why can't I have more dreams like that? :(

:biglaugh: I know! It was so awesome! Unfortunately, dreams like this are a rarity for me. :( Usually I'm just trapped in mazes of book shelves or stupid crap like that.

I don't know if it is funny or just sad... I'm always the hero or tragic hero in my dreams. No one ever rescues me. I'm always protecting others.

Very interesting. That might change in time, the symbolic pattern and how it relates to your life I mean. Are you still quite young Evearael?

I sleep like a rock, and so don't remember my dreams.

In some cultures, that would make me a retard. :bonk:

The cake is a lie
When I was little I had a recurring dream of a T-rex chasing me into our pasture, but luckily there was always a mountain of catfood where our pond is, so I would hide behind it and the T-rex would go away.

My most recent recurring one involves me being at the top of a small mountain or large hill with huge, spiral stone steps surrounding it. I always stay up at the top too long, and feel that something's going to Get Me if I go down the steps as it's getting dark.

EDIT: Oh, and no matter who gets hurt or is killed in my dreams, there's never blood. I've seen things get their heads ripped off in my dreams, but not a drop of blood. Odd.

Dreams are great... but you don't wanna get me started. Far too much can be read into them, and there are some that are remembered with quite vivid clarity

Well ok...

There was this one time I was a fish.

And I walked around the ocean.

The End. :p

But seriously. Dreams are more powerful than we give them credit for. I think they get dismissed FAR too lightly.

That's like my gay dolphin dream! I think you and I have some strange connection...;)

Usually a sign of sleep apnea. I don't remember 'em unless they're Lucid dreams, and I wake up in the middle of the night quite breathless regularly. I think the doctor might be needing a visit... after 10 years :D

I keep a dream diary. Because dreams fade from memory quite quickly and its a pain to get out of bed and write them up I have my PDA next to my bed so I can dictate into it when I wake from a dream. That way I can quickly give an account of everything I can remember, ready for typing up later, then fall back asleep without getting out of bed.

Reading them back the patterns and themes that run throughout them really stand out.
