Students Are Pushing Back Against Gender Ideology In Their Schools

When I hear "activist" i think of groups fighting for equality and acceptance. No one has explained that trans activism is a negative thing instead of a positive intention for trans rights.

The issue comes when the activists aren't trans themselves imo.

It's like speaking on the other person's behalf.

Now if they are working together that's a different story.

Native Americans have had a lot of talking "for" them, as opposed to with.

I'm not sure what trans-activists are. At face value it sounds like people who advocate for trans people against prejudice and disinformation.
If they left it at that, I think they'd be a lot more successful.

Besides slavery, high school students also need to understand that some of our past heroes have been transgender. Those high school protesters four years ago mistakenly confused "USA" with a pronoun to underscore their hatred of transgender individuals. But they were really interested in establishing their protest with conservative patriotism--the idea being that being transgender was not an issue addressed by our history as a nation. So, besides a grammar lesson, they also need a history lesson. One of our most famous Revolutionary War heroes, General Casimir Pulaski, who founded the American cavalry, was born with both male and female genitalia.

Casimir Pulaski, Polish Hero of the Revolutionary War, Was Most Likely Intersex, Researchers Say

Of course, which pronoun to use for him/her wasn't an issue back then. Pulaski hid his intersex gender, and his intersex condition was only discovered recently, although there were some historical references to it. If more people knew about it, I suppose that would change how the public celebrates Casimir Pulaski Day.

It's a pity that gender equality is such an emotional issue for people, but English does force us to choose between male and female gender in third person pronouns. This problem becomes even more of an issue for other languages that mark gender, especially in Europe, although there are a few languages that naturally have gender-neutral third person pronouns.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

@fantome profane it wouldn't let me reply directly to you.

I don't disagree, and I am certainly not saying don't speak up.

The issue I see is when activists take over messaging, instead of listening to those they are supposedly supporting. It happens with all movements, so it's good to be aware of preventing it.

(I didn't intend to actually put the quote in quote tags, but it wouldn't let me do it the other way, that is probably why you couldn't quote me directly)

The trans community represents a very small segment of the population. That is why they are so easy to attack. Non-trans people must speak out. But you are also right. We should be amplifying their voices, not drowning them out.

When I think of Antifa, I think of those fighting fascists! But when you look at the actions thought they do a lot of fighting and destroying, it’s is never against fascists.
When I think of Black Lives Matter, I think of people fighting to improve the lives of black people; but when you look at their actions, though they got paid a lot of money, none of it seems to be used to help black people; hence the lawsuits by a number of black people and community activists. Many trans activists have a history of wanting to shut down, or even shout down the conversation when people disagree with them. My point is, just because an organization has a name that sounds nobel, does not mean the organization is nobel

How dare you make such a comparison; nobody is being taken away.

Really.

I will not apologize for making that comparison. I know I am probably violating one of those internet laws, I don't care.

The quote is particularly appropriate. If you know the history the trans community was one of the first groups the Nazi's came for.

And if you think this issue of the Trans commuity is only about the Trans community you are being naive. They are using the Trans comminity. Start with Trans children, then trans adults, then gays, then anyone who does not belong to their religion.

I'd love to hear about all the things Antifa destroyed and killed. Surely you have definitive proof?

Ah, then I think we are in agreement. The kids that you talk about in the OP might just be acting out, repeating the hateful toxic garbage they have heard. I think most of them will get over this pretty quickly.

A few might end up doing hateful right wing propaganda podcasts. But they will be a tiny minority.
I suspect they were coached/groomed to pull this stunt.

I don't condone violence. But let's look at these groups. Antifa claimed to fight fascists but given the small number of them they had to settle for white supremacists and far right extremists. These latter groups DO cause harm to citizens, and do so with rhetoric, intimidation, and violence. Antifa took upon themselves to counter the violence of these far right extremists. I don't agree with their methods but I agree with their attitudes. And frankly I think allowing far right extremists to act without some counter pressure is inviting them to feel more confident. Quite a few of those "superior white boys" got bloody noses and black eyes, and had to go home and explain it to their mothers. Maybe mom talked some sense to them.
When I think of Black Lives Matter, I think of people fighting to improve the lives of black people; but when you look at their actions, though they got paid a lot of money, none of it seems to be used to help black people; hence the lawsuits by a number of black people and community activists.
The movement was not all about the money, although I understand there was some serious problems with it. However the whole point of BLM was social activism, and for many black citizens this was a way for them to express their anger and frustration and be heard. Thousands of marches occurred all over the world and of all that many millions of people there was only about 7% of the people that got into some trouble. Some of this trouble was discovered to be white supremacists baiting marchers into violence.

What would make the lives of black people better is police reform. Minneapolis was reported bu the DOJ to have used excessive force and violence against black people as their routine. Have the protests inproved things for black citizens? I don't know, but the world is watching police now, and they are being held accountable more and more.

The fight for equality tends to also be a fight against prejudice. It is seldom a quiet and rational discussion. These are peoples lives in the balance and emotions fray. As a liberal I can say I have a great deal of pessimism about the future of the USA, and the basic liberties that we take for granted. For decades many have been frustrated that liberals are passive and get pushed around. Frankly I'm happy to see liberals get more aggressive and stand up for themselves against a growing far right sentiment that is willing to elect a criminal as president. These are dangerous people, and to save America, including trans kids, will require a lot of standing up against bigotry and hate.

It's probably too late too start fighting. Rome wasn't built a day, and it didn't collapse overnight. America has been in decline for so long now it may irreversible and inevitable that America loses its Super Power status (that it was too stupid to understand how it even got to such a height if power).

Especially appropriate as trans people were among the first targeted, with the famous nazi youth book burning picture being from a sexology institute studying transsexuals and gender or sex nonconforming. They were labeled as deviants even before the pink triangle became a thing.
Same arguments. Danger to our children and unpatriotic.

The future of the USA will come down to the Electoral College, and just a few thousands of voters in numerous swing states. Trump only lost the EC by about 40,000 votes in 4 states. That is close. Imagine if MAGAs were able to get 50,000 people to move to those swing states and register to vote in time before the election. That would win it, and totally legal. All republicans have to do is limit voting for miniorities enough to sway the totals state wide. I don't know what's going to happen. Now with this No Labels organization saying they want to run a third party candidate, it could all go to Trump without cheating. Then watch out.
