sufiism seems quite different from the islam i learned about

Does it matter if most of Sufis now coming from Shia background?.. Weather Sunni or Shia, we still reading Quran, we still Muslim right?. it's like from out of 10, 7 from Shia and 3 from Sunni.. it not a big deal at all

I didn't mean it in that way. I was asking why you thought Shia were coming into Sufi ideas more than Sunnis. I don't care where they are coming from but I am curious why Shia seem to have an easier transition to Sufi ideals. There is no malice here it is genuine curiosity.

It's not about Sunni or Shia teaching. It's about people who can accept Sufis teaching or not.. It's like you from level 1 to level 2. If you wanna stick to level 1, it's still okay and if you want more, than go for a next step. Sufism is more like individual path. And unfortunately some of country not let Sufis teaching go widespread, like my country that 99% is Sunni. It's one of the problem.

Sufi whirling isnt done to relax. It is a ritual that belongs to a certain school which in origin rather strict with rules and hierarchy. It emerged as the natural outcome of an overflowed state of mind and soul with 'love' (no exact translation for that type of love in english)of the schools' founder then it turned into a ritual. Dervish is supposed to be complete with all meditation, contemplation, isolation, suffering and longing before joining in these rituals. There are some lighter schools of sufis but swirling dervish's origin and his school is the heavy part. But there can be many copies of the act which is fine still only in origin it isnt done to relax or meditate.
Sufism is not necessarily islamic but many schools including actual school of swirling dervish agree they are.

Sufis are those who take great importance in purifying their inward selfs, which is actually part of Islam. The problem is when some people only take care of one side and ignore the other. The proper way is to strive for betterment both inwardly and outwardly. The inward form would be Tasawwuf or as some would call "Sufism", and the outward is the Sharia (in the proper meaning of the word).

in the sense they dont seem as strict. like the use music, ive had many muslims tell me music is bad. iv also seen a video were sufis were dancing and stuff and it looked like men and women were not separated

In general Sufis are more tolerant than the Sunnis...
In the belief side Suffis are closer to the Shiites than the Sunnis...
