About a quarter of Democrats said they wouldn’t accept the results if their candidate loses, and fewer Democrats than Republicans said they would “take action to overturn” the results.

The nonpartisan World Justice Project, which keeps an index of how strong the rule of law is in more than 100 countries, gathered the data as part of a larger study. The poll was conducted through online interviews with 1,046 American households between June 10 and June 18.

The report did not ask people what specific “action” they would take to overturn the election results, just that that 46% of Republicans and 27% of Democrats wouldn't accept results, and 14% of Republicans compared with 1% of Democrats said they would "take action."

Elizabeth Andersen, the group’s executive director, said the results are “kind of startling” and amount to about one-third of Americans being unwilling to accept the presidential election results if their candidate loses.

If you look at the history of revolutions, the vast majority of successful ones started from people already financially adjacent to the ruling class. The October revolution was rich spoiled Russian college kids funded by Germany (that blew up). The American Revolution was instigated by and led by the middle class farmers. the French Revolution, which was a people's revolution, descended into butchery and horror. Trump's "followers" would last about an hour before the Republican governors poured the National Guard and police down their throats.

Plus, most of the loud mouths on the right are afraid. That's why they bought all those guns in the first place. They talk big, but rarely take chances.

A lot of that is just talk. The insurgents were more bark than bite on January 6. That was shown when the first of them that tried to cross a line that they absolutely could not cross and was shot instantly quieted the whole mob. With bigger groups the amount of idiocy goes up, but any actual show of force is apt to instantly break their will.

The sad thing is that this shows that the Republican party is no longer the party of patriots.

Wouldn't matter if they did. The military is sworn to uphold the Constitution.

So a little quick down-and-dirty math. Approximately 74 million people voted Republican in 2020. 14% of that is a little over 10 million people who say they will "take action". If only 1 % of those who say they will "take action" actually do "take action" that is still 100 000 people.

Is my math right? Is my math terrifying?
