Taoism

I thought while finding this place that it being a "Religious Forum": many people here would actually like to learn about Taoism - YES Taoism not yourism or whatIthinkism, or better yet lol - Mastersoinsoism...

Anyhow, it is against my beliefs as well my religion to argue over such mundane things and I sincerely apologize for this to those of yoiu whom were interested in learning.
Peace be with ALL of you and I hope you all find happiness within whatever you are looking for.

Note for the mods, please consider to change this page to the Tao te ching philosophical page - NOT Taoism.

In parting I would like to offer a gift for all of you to learn from and someday hopefully understand...

I have been asking questions about Taoism or 'Tao' since I got here, and you have not offered but the minimal amount of education about it. In fact, you made attempts to assault me to some degree. In what I had as a genuine interest in Tao has decreased just by your actions here in your 26 posts on this forum; you have insulted nearly every person who has attempted to have a frank discussion of the subject, and shot down my interest by stating I could not understand the Tao because a.) I don't have a master, and b.) I don't speak traditional Chinese.

And dust1n, don't let this deter you. The Tao is a wonderful concept, with a very rich tradition in the orient. And there are quite a few very knowledgeable people here that are more than happy to help you.

OH, I don't plan on letting it deter me; I just simply couldn't understand this particular post in context to his other posts.

Taoren, if you're still around, I want to share a quote from Thomas Paine with you: "My own mind is my own church."

I'm sorry if other people's views on what Taoism is don't square with yours, but that's the price we pay for inhabiting these seemingly separate forms. I see that you've been studying Taoism a lot longer than me, & possibly with trained masters. I'm of the find-your-own path school & don't even consider myself strictly a Taoist, but everyone has their own tempraments, I suppose.

Maybe we can all agree to disagree, but in an agreeable way, hm?

well in defense of the OP (or not)

some would argue you have to be within the traditional circles to understand fully what is Taoism....

It would be like attempting to understand the full extent of ther Shema (Judaism) as a Christian....

however as an "outsider" I fail to see that one cannot gain insight into Taoism or the Shema....

I get your point, but what is the point of the religion if you aren't even willing to attempt explaining it to some degree?
