Teenage Gambling

I heard tonight on the news that Poker is popular among teenagers. Some a fearful that starting gambling so young will lead to a gambling addiction. Others fees it's good for companionship, math skills and planning. What do you think?

I recall that the father of the mathematician and logician Charles Sanders Peirce taught his son to concentrate by keeping him awake at nights playing poker (or was it bridge?) while blowing cigar smoke in his eyes. Probably be considered child abuse today, but Charles did go on to found the American philosophical school of Pragmatism.
