It's when I was born.

I was born too in that decade.
The 80s were still going strong in the early 90s. That's when i was growing up. I'm happy that I didn't completely miss out on the 80s.

Most of all, I miss the TV series. The A-Team and the like. In Germany, nowadays there are but "reality" series. I liked the TV series so much I decided that one day I'd move to the U.S. because it must be such a paradise to live there.

Let's see ... some punk and new wave music was pretty good. Glam rock and disco were an abomination, though. Reagan and the "greed is good" culture ruined America, maybe (probably) permanently. Cocaine became an epidemic that soon turned into a crack epidemic. Our inner-cities were completely trashed and neglected. Ghettos looked like bombed out cities during WW2. Reagan closed all the homes for the mentally ill and dumped the residents into the streets, where they've been living and dying ever since. I used to visit friends in New York City back in the 80s and there was human urine and excrement all over the sidewalks in lower Manhattan.

Truth be told the 80s was a terrible decade. It was when America finally fell from grace and became a ****-hole of greed, selfishness, and stupidity. It's a little "prettier" now, but it's soul has never recovered. As evidenced by Trump and neo-republicanism.

I have a few from the early 00s though. They're sittin in me wardrobe for almost 20 years. Can't throw them away. They hold so many memories.

What's your favorite thing about the 1980s?

The 1987 Buick GNX - The fastest US production car that year (yes, faster than the Corvette). Quarter mile in 4.7 seconds. Low mileage examples are currently selling at auction for $200,000+. They stickered at $29,389 in 1987.

One of my favorite genres of music currently is Synthwave (especially Darksynth like Perturbator and Mega Drive). The 80s had a significant impact on its style and sound.
