Okay, Heneni, you're not an American, so let me explain.

The U.S. still makes a penny coin. It's not worth anything. People literally throw them away. If you left a pile of them on the sidewalk, nobody would pick it up. And even though it's not worth anything, it's still worth more than it costs to make it. We are pouring money down the drain to make something nobody wants, because nobody wants to admit a penny isn't worth anything.

We still print a dollar bill, even though dollar coins would save us millions. We have dollar coins, but nobody uses them. Nobody will ever use them until we stop making dollar bills. We still make dollar bills because we are resistant to change. We would rather throw money down the sewer than make even the most sensible change.

So you want to know if we're adopting a whole new currency? No. We wouldn't adopt a new currency if our lives depended on it. We won't even use the metric system, for god's sake.

Yeh i figured as much. You know me, i love a good conspiracy theory.

You forget - we may not be given a CHOICE in this matter.

:angel2:....and so there might very well be a conspiracy?

If you do a google search on it...check wiki and let me know if you think its probable or not. Smoke thinks its balony. I think so too. I know that recently china proposed a one world currency and obama rejected it. But then that is not to say the amero is not in the pipeline.

I know forumers are quite clued up so im hoping that anybody with info will share it here.

Thanks!

Reason, and reason again
It's a conspiracy theory used by Alex Jones and the like to scare people into giving them more money.

Very nicely put. The only thing I can add is losing the penny would mean changing prices to always end up in divisions of 5 after taxes. To do this would mean some tax percentages would have to change too. All in all, no one wants to go to the effort even though it would be so much better to do so.

It is a load of horse droppings:
Claim: The U.S. has been producing the "Amero" coins, money to be used by an economic union of the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

FALSE

Example: [Collected via e-mail, September 2007]

"THE AMERO" IS REAL;
I HAVE ONE TO PROVE IT!
UNITED STATES, CANADA AND MEXICO TO BE MERGED INTO SINGLE NEW ENTITY NAMED NORTH AMERICAN UNION!
By: Hal Turner

Three weeks ago, I published a brief snippet on the front page of my web site reporting the governments of the US Canada and Mexico are conspiring in secret to merge the three nations into a new entity called the North American Union.

There has been much talk of this on various internet blogs for over a year. Most of those blogs have been smeared as "conspiracy theorists" and have been largely ignored by the main stream.

What prompted my interest in the issue was money: I was sent professional images of actual AMERO coins by someone in the US Treasury! The person included a note saying they like my radio show and are frightened by what's been going on in secret within our government.

This Treasury Department person was outraged that our country was beginning to coin money as part of a merger that would do away with our country, via a merger the American public knew nothing about!
