The Apocalypse

allfoak

Alchemist
Is this the time of the great revealing?
The earth and humanity both are in a state of crisis.

I am not a Christian but I can read the writing on the subway walls.
Something big is happening.

I would like to hear the thoughts of others on this subject.

You would be right to say that armageddon is not far away..
What is to be, is to be. :(

Is humanity at a worse crisis than at any time in history? No. How many generations of people have said that they were living in the End Times and been wrong. You want to join that illustrious crowd? What if there is no such thing as the apocalypse? Why do you believe it is a real thing?

An article offered by the Pan American Health Organization begins:

Influenza—more specifically the Spanish flu—left its devastating mark in both world and American history that year. The microscopic killer circled the entire globe in four months, claiming the lives of more than 21 million people. The United States lost 675,000 people to the Spanish flu in 1918-more casualties than World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War combined. Pharmaceutical companies worked around the clock to come up with a vaccine to fight the Spanish flu, but they were too late. The virus disappeared before they could even isolate it. [source]

This came in the wake of the collapse of a Russian Empire that had been a fixture for nearly two centuries. It unfolded some thirteen years before a 1931 flood in China left a death toll estimated at somewhere between half a million and four million people, and roughly two decades before the wrenching devastation of World War II.

Subway walls are a poor oracle. Our history is laced with catastrophe and, in general, devoid of "great revealing" -- save for repeated evidence of humanity's vulnerability and inhumanity.

I am not a Christian nor am I part of the "illustrious crowd" of which you speak.
I do not think that humanity is going to be wiped out or that Jesus is coming back.
But there is no denying that there are things on the verge of happening that could send humanity back to the stone if they occur.

Call it what you will clearly this is a time of revealing.
The house of cards of the evil elite is in the process of coming down.
It is also a time of great changes happening with the earth and the rest of the solar system.
There is much more to be said but I am tired.
It is a hard road trying to help people see what is happening right in front of their faces.

You are missing a piece.

What exactly is happening right in front of our faces that is apocalyptic?

You are just making an assumption about someone that you do not know.

I was responding to your post. Whatever I may not know about you, I do know that you've engaged in some pretty major confirmation bias at least once.

Maybe we should talk about how you do the same with your own beliefs?
I am sure you would be easily offended if I said that to you.

It seems hypocritical for you to make presumptions about me just after complaining about having presumptions made about you.

... but yes: the next time I start a thread to ask for opinions about my views, you're free to tell me what you think of them.

You asked for our thoughts (edit: an in a debate forum); I gave you mine. If you only wanted to hear support for your views, you should have said so in the OP.

If humans had existed 65-66 million years ago I might agree, or perhaps at other similar events, or even as to living in certain countries during WWII as my parents did, but what is occurring now is rather puny in comparison. Mostly, what Earth is experiencing is due to human successes - as to population growth - without the necessary responsibility being shown - by us as individuals and as to the leaders we choose (or don't choose). AI is still an unknown.

One thing I find humans are really bad at, predicting the future.
However, even a broken watch is right twice a day.

I suppose at some point, some event will happen to satisfy these constant apocalyptic predictions.

I doubt AI can match human creativity, yet.
Most AI is just a matter of regurgitating knowledge humans have already developed.

If AI ever becomes self-conscious maybe then humans will find themselves to be obsolete.

Why do you consider AI to be more of a harbinger of the apocalypse than, well, anything else throughout history?

I suppose people get confused by the words apocalypse and armageddon.
Apocalypse means revealing.
Armageddon is the final battle of good and evil
While there is certainly a battle going on it is probably not the final one.

Life runs in cycles.
Everything does.
Large ones and small ones.
The great revealing is a time in human history that comes around maybe every 24,000 years it seems.
This is a time when humanity is on the brink of destroying itself.
It is also a time when we can see that that is what we are doing.
It is coming to a point of being a crisis and it is getting our attention.
We are beginning to see our own behavior as a species is deeply flawed.

Technology has enabled us to get to this point but we are losing control of our creation.
AI has the potential to turn life into a utopia or a hell.
It seems to me without even going into the antichrist idea and the new religion that we are heading for a crisis of biblical proportions.

Did I mention that there is a pole shift happening and the possibility of a micro nova within the next ten years?

So you don't have an actual answer to my question, then?

We've been "overdue" for a geomagnetic reversal for thousands of years and supernovas happen all the time. When they happen, they take thousands of years to complete. What do you think makes right now special?
