For me hands down it would be Tennessee Williams. He is just the epitome of a beautiful play-wright his plays carry such tragedy yet pure magic at the same time it is sheer brilliance. He is so honest it is powerfully alarming.
If you have not read at least one of the following plays, 'A Streetcar Named Desire', 'The Glass Menagerie' or 'Sweet Bird Of Youth', I am sorry but I do not know how you even fathom to exist! Basically anyone who has never read these plays should get them read! Or what about 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof'!!

So what are you favourite plays? Let us have a theatre discussion, be it ranging from Shakespeare to David Hare to Arthur Miller, hit me with your favourite plays/playwrights whatever, all thing Drama-ey!

I love Tennessee Williams, especialy the glass minagery. Probably my favorite play wright would be Langston Huges, A raisen in the sun has so many beautifial lines in it, it compleatly capture what is was like during a specific time and place.
I love going to shaksperian plays, but do not enjoy reading the plays as much, you need to see them performed. Hamlet was such a great play, but Macbeath is byfar my favorite.

(ps not eveyone in hamlet dies)

Oscar Wilde, hands down. He manages to savage English upper middle-class society from the inside in a manner that makes them beg for more.

I would say that shakspeare can not be the best, I think he is so famouse because the stories are so good. The themes are very universal. You see modern movies put out today that are based on shakspear's plays. I think were he the best playwrite, you would not see his stories being re-told, you would see them in their original format. I think he is the BEST storyteller.

I hate Shakespeare. Never have i read such bull in my whole life... They teach it in schools, but the English is Old English... What are they trying to do? Make us write in Old English so we fail? Boring and pointless stories...
