The Bible -- I'm Excited!

I'm about to start reading the Bible on audio book. It will be arriving soon in my next Amazon order. I am very excited. This will be the first time I've even attempted to read it. I guess it's all part of my quest to become more spiritual and more well-read. It's the King James Edition.

It's on unabridged audio book because I find it much easier physically and logistically. Anyhow, I don't really know what I am in for. It should be good!

Hmmm ... that's the one book I would recommend reading in the traditional way. It was written to be read very slowly and carefully, so that the mind can contemplate each line and phrase. It's intended to bring up unanswerable questions concerning the idea of "God" so that the mind will stay focussed on these, and on the practice of faith.

Some parts of the bible are written in story form, and could perhaps be listened to as though from a story-teller, but much of the bible will not lend itself to this format of delivery very well. I think you should seriously consider picking up an actual book, and reading a little bit of it each day, and then contemplate the ideas being presented to you throughout the day. This would be much more in keeping with the way it was written and intended to be used.

I'm afraid this is the only option I have. I can always pause it when I want to think about something. We'll see how it goes.
