I've just seen it. I liked it a lot. I don't mind that it's a period piece. It's premise makes sense that it isn't set in today's time. Pretty good movie overall. Ethan Hawke's villain was dammed creepy and effective. It fits as a horror film but works more as a thriller. I recommend it.

I wonder if anyone who has experienced real
horror wants to see a horror film.
I have experienced real horror. I find therapeutic catharsis in horror movies. Especially, one like the Black Phone.

There's my answer.
As for me I am too easy to " trigger".
Some can't and shouldn't view certain material. We all heal at different rates choosing different medications. I comprehend and can't hold it against you.

The Black Phone has a happy ending, btw. That's one of it's biggest criticisms from audiences. It's almost cheesy. :p
