Covered more of our globe than any Empire, fought wars on every continent, enslaved and treated people worse than work-horses, caused more destruction and misery than Nazi Germany, had concentration death camps like Auschwitz, brutally persecuted and outlawed other Religions (including Catholicism ), commited genocide, ruined lives, civilization, culture, and only got a slap on the wrist for it !

Why?

Interesting a confederate flag is soooo offensive to people, but waving a union jack is totally accepted, when the people who flew that flag enslaved, murdered, tortured, and opressed far far more people than the confederates.

Ever watch the BBC production "Indian Summer" on "Masterpiece Theater" that's shown here in the States on PBS. It deals with the raj (British occupation of India), and it ain't very complimentary towards the Brits, let me tell ya. The new season just started this last Sunday, and my wife & I never miss it.

That map puts the USA in the British empire in 1922.
Apparently they missed details like The Great War.

I thought the 'thirteen colonies" were legally restricted to East of the Appalachian mountains. The map shows them extending to the Mississippi river.

Remember that it was the anglo-sphere which defeated the NAZIs (German socialist party) which you use as the benchmark of evil. As well as the USSR, imperialist Japan, Saddam Hussein, the Taliban etc etc.

You have this empire to thank for the free world we so take for granted today, but it was not easy, it was a close fight back in the day. Things could have worked out not nearly as well as they did..

Colonialism sucked but it serves no purpose to fixate on it. Blaming old atrocities keeps you from moving on and building yourself up into a greater person, it creates a culture of weakness.

Why nobody was punished? The British Empire ceased to exist and all of the guilty parties were dead by the time anyone would have the desire and ability to impose any kind of punishment. I suspect it’s been pretty much the same for every major Empire in the history of the world.

I do question how many of those bad things only happened because of the Empire. It’s not as if everywhere outside the British Empire was all sunshine and flowers at the time nor did everywhere within the British Empire magically improve once it left. I’d suggest the root cause of it all is human nature.

Yeah... It's tough to know if people outside the borders were any more humane.
