Leave political and religious differences at the door. This thread is for the RF community to have a more personal and everyday look at each other. I think we could all use a reminder about the similarities between us and the other person behind the keyboard every once in a while.

Right now I'm doing some gaming and watching heavy equipment videos on YouTube. It's oddly relaxing to watch how smoothly a piece of machinery weighing hundreds of thousands of pounds can operate for long hours without breaking a sweat.

What have you done for fun lately? Do you have any specific weekend activities you regularly do?

What's that? I've been doing work and phlebotomy class the past month, so free time has been scarce.

Driving rideshare. But those days are coming to an end, and when I get a job as a phlebotomist with my first check I'm checking out this local hard rock bar and grill that's downtown here, I'm going to get drunk, I'm going to order my own Uber back home, and do the traditional ex driver thing of jumping in and asking the current driver to swap craziest rider stories.

I find myself goofing off with online and real life friends and acquaintances. The problem with text is you can't hear tone of voice. I'm generally more lighthearted than what my text sometimes conveys, even when sounding intense.... in real life, I feel that my words kind of "float". And you don't get the mannerisms or animations of myself here. I bought a couple of action figures recently, but I also play with makeup a bit. I also imitate a couple of celebrities, not rudely though, in a comedy standup routine I show my friends. I can be deep and serious too, though... I once wrote a novel on a fictional war with dragons and swords and stuff, and I didn't initially mean it to initially, but it all got super detailed, with army sizes and me studying old-time fighting. I even had to act out a few scenes to make sure I was getting it right, or at least right and convincing enough for actiony fiction. I'm going for about a Star Wars prequels level of believability or higher.

Also, I identify as they/them currently, but I feel the need to some extent to identify as she/her for this post, to dodge getting crammed into a locker for my hobbies and interests.

Not too much for "fun" per se, but I've been doing a lot of yard and house chores. This is the time of year the grass won't quit growing no matter how much I decapitate it.

Last night me and my wife lit up the fire pit and enjoyed the late sunset and flames. I also enjoyed a few beers by the fire.

And school. Lots and lots of school

Also did swimming this weekend. Teaching my spouse how to swim. :)

Oh yeah, I've also been benchmarking some computers. I have like 3 machines. One has LPDDR4X. The other dual-channel DDR4 3200. Using integrated graphics, I really can't see how the LPDDR4X isn't miles ahead. There isn't really a whole lot of info otherwise on this out now, though - I don't think. Some even have the theory that you half the LPDDR4X before comparing it to DDR4 3200 so they err on the side of caution before buying a LPDDR4X laptop. But from what I've seen and in current laptop setups, it's incorrect.

You really don't want to see the computer hardware budget I give myself each year. But I have my reasons and plans as to why I test things and benchmark them. I want to keep an intimate knowledge of 3D graphics and it relates to paid work. But I'd rather not say much more than that.

Sunday is the day my friend comes over, and we bake a cake.

We really screwed up today's cake. It wasn't really a cake, per say.... more like a sweet made from paneer. Never made anything like it. I think we overcooked the liquid out of the cheese, which made it a little grainy, and the shape wouldn't hold, at least for the non-cocoa part.

Still tasted good, even if it wasn't the 'log' we were hoping for.

Well it's after dinner time here in the Pacific Northwest. And that means our little cuddle bug/dog Tilly converts into ferocious play beast. I'll be playing fetch with her and browsing RF for the next few hours. It's what we do basically every night at this time.

I'm working on obtaining my certificate in logic while studying mathematical statistics in my free time.

Did you know that, in a sense, computational logic pointed out the errors we had in analytical logic? For instance, in analytical logic, it is always true that "either X or not X" but in computational logic we can only say that if we know whether X is true or not. X has to be defined before reading it, just like in programming.

We held an international (French, Germany and English) BBQ on Saturday. Good fun.

Spent much of yesterday on the phone being talked at by my schizophrenic brother in law. Not good fun.

And today after a visit to the post office i will be having a good rub down. i.e. we are paining the woodwork so it needs to be sanded and prepared. Different and interesting (perhaps)

I think @Debater Slayer used the word "fun" :D

I'm likely to be carless in a day or so - having a few interested whilst it lay unused in the drive - but my main issue is that I have enough money to fix some of the issues with my home (not all) and will no doubt have to decide how to spend it wisely, priorities and all, but then that will mean doing some work. Such a shame. And quite surprising how money builds up when one spends less than one's income.
