The Chronicles of Narnia

I just watched Prince Caspian on DVD and thought it was a pretty good movie. I really enjoyed the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe as well. I've read that the Voyage of the Dawn Trader has been funded so we should see at least a third in the series made.

Do you think they do the books justice?
Do you think they should do the entire series or stop while their ahead?
Do you think they are too violent for children?
Do you think the ideals portrayed in the books/movies are dated and don't pertain to todays society?

Did you enjoy the movies?
Yes! :D I liked them both.

Do you think they do the books justice?
The first one did. Honestly, I only red The Magician's Nephew and The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe... So I don't know if the second one did the book justice or not. I liked it though.

Do you think they should do the entire series or stop while their ahead?
I'd say go ahead and make more. I might like them. :D And if not, oh well... I'm sure someone will like it.

Do you think they are too violent for children?
No.

Sort of. They don't like the women to ever be involved in fighting and whatnot, but it's just a pretend story, so who cares? Like the lord of the rings. They wouldn't let Eowen fight the enemy because she is a girl. But it's just a story. And it's supposed to have taken place some time ago. And I know it is basically the bible with different characters, but I still like it, even though I find the bible boring.

Really, I just finished Prince Caspian and Susan did a whole lot of fighting. I can see Lucy being protected due to her age but Susan was a warrior extreme.

Didn't they change that from the books though? I know in the first one Aslan told them that the girls should stay out of the battle if they could.

I did enjoy the movies but I haven't read the books and doubt I will.

I think it's a waste to do part of a series. But if the same actors/actresses choose not to participate, they should probably throw in the towel.

No, I don't think the movies are too violent.

I saw much in the first movie specifically, that parallels certain religious beliefs and this is certainly relevant to today's society.

Not a problem, the characters in the books change as they go. The two older children are in the first two, and the two younger are only in one more. After that it's a cousin and his friend.

Hmm, not sure. I read the books when I was a kid, oh so many decades ago. :( Maybe someone else can verify that for us. In the movie she kicked butt though. :D

Do you mean chronological? The movies are being done in the order that they were written and published. Many say that they should be read chronologically but I understand doing the movies in the original order since many people with relate to them in that way. Everyone's heard of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe but not very many have heard of the Magician's Nephew which was the 6th book in publication order.

LWW movie was weird,I felt very weepy & uncomfortable until the kids got out into the country, then I relaxed & really enjoyed it.....the kids were all weepy when Aslan was stabbed,I thought the sacrifice was great!

I liked The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe a lot. I though Prince Caspian fell far short. Not having read the books, I have no idea who to blame.

Entire series.

Do you think they are too violent for children?
Children vary wildly. The Incredibles is too scary for my Raven.

Do you think the ideals portrayed in the books/movies are dated and don't pertain to todays society?
I just want a good story, man. :run:
