The death of a nation.

I had initially assumed that a Trump presidency was a very bad thing for the country.

I now see that is is much worse than anything imaginable.

He initially opened the door to give acceptance to any evil or immoral act. He made it possible for those who choose evil and immorality to come out of the shadows. And it has happened, as the evil and immoral people are now emboldened, both in their talk and their language. Most members of the Republican party are fully onboard with this evil. Regardless of their talk of Christian values or anything else that is good, the party has degenerated into one controlled by evil. They can say they stand for good, but would you expect that which is evil to not lie? No. Read John 8:44. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

The most disheartening aspect of this presidency is that it was placed into power by the Christian fundamentalists who claim to be of Godly and moral character. Yet their very actions of supporting such a presidency, show them to be not just the opposite, but the exact opposite. Read John 8:44 again.

Now we have a massive giveaway to the richest people in society pawned off as a middle class tax cut. This is such an incredibly bold and audacious lie, that only a person consumed with evil and greed would not recognize it for what it is. It is already being reported that many corporations are blatantly stating they will do nothing to create jobs, raise wages, or in any way use the massive government payoff they’re receiving, to benefit anyone but themselves. Another example of how doing evil can now be broadcast and boasted, and yet no one will be held accountable. As a matter of fact, if someone (even from within their party) does say something against the evil done by trump and his party, they are labeled and harassed.

I believe the Republicans are purposely attempting to accelerate the bankruptcy and demise of the entire country through this evil new tax bill. For what purpose? So that they can move quicker to eliminate all aid and assistance for the poor, sick, and elderly.

Speaking of elderly. Now that all forms of evil and immorality are acceptable and even encouraged, I doubt that it will be long before the Republicans begin to formulate plans to eliminate the “problems” that they perceive exist in the country. The poor, sick, and elderly specifically. The first of such plans will likely take the form of mandatory euthanasia for anyone over a certain age. It will be billed as necessary to protect the government and for the benefit of younger generations. Of course, a substantial payment to the government will be allowed for the rich to become exempt. The sick and poor will eventually be dealt with in some manner, although when they have been completely abandoned by their government, many will die rather quickly on their own.

Your feeling is nothing new. There were folks who believe that Obama was intentionally trying to destroy the nation.
Rubio spokesman: Obama 'intentionally' trying to destroy America - CNNPolitics

Were you are wrong, IMO is paying any attention to the news.

The nation will continue on. They may or may not elect Trump for another 4 years. Whatever president they do elect, some news source is going to point out their intended destruction of the nation.

29, 30, 40 years from now there's likely to be people about feeling the same.

The President is only one person. There's only so much he can do. The government is much more than that but the media focuses on the President as if he was an autocratic ruler.

Um.. lacking optimism?

Very good question. I’m glad you asked.

I’m highly optimistic about my own life and situation. Probably much more so than even a few months ago. Yet, unfortunately, I am capable of seeing reality quite clearly much of the time. Unfortunately, because having one’s head in the sand has a certain comfort about it. Not boasting, it’s nothing to boast about. Just my experiences from being on the earth for so very long.

EXTREMELY well said, imo. :clapping:

IMO, it is appalling that any person of faith can still support Trump at this point. I can understand why many people voted for him, many out of frustration with the two parties or their own situation, but what Trump has done in one year is nothing short of brutal depravity on a scale like we've never seen before in a president. How can any person of faith still support him is beyond me. IMO, they basically have "sold their soul" to the Deity of Feel-Good-Ism based on a willingness to let others suffer. What a shame.

When the President thinks of himself as an autocrat, dictators around the world use his words to justify their acts and racists applaud him, a line has been crossed. Even some conservative Republicans with whom I disagree totally on policy are denouncing him.

I can disagree totally with someone's politics while still admiring them for them for their dedication to service. When someone makes everything all about him and demands servile boot-licking from his subordinates, he has proven himself unfit for office.

Honesty my hope is that whoever happens to be President doesn't screw up my life too much. Really I hope they don't screw up anyone's life but it's hard for me to judge the degree of screw up for someone else.

I don't expect people in government to do anything beneficial for me.

This is my view regardless of who happens to be president.

I understand your doubts and reservations. We've never had a turd in the Oval Office before, and so far we haven't been able to do a thing about it. It just keeps stinking up America more and more. Not that he's an actual reflection of America or its ideals, but foreigners can't understand him or the American public who elected him, and who can blame them, I don't quite understand it myself. My impression is that all the previous Presidents lulled the American public into a false sense of security. No matter how asinine candidates appeared before they were elected, they never turned out to be nearly that bad. Until Trump. I believe this is a true awakening for America. Turds do exist, and it's up to us us to make certain they never again have the ability to cripple our government or our relations with the rest of the world.

Although I didn't vote for the scum bag, in a way I still feel apologetic to everyone else in the world. We should have done better, America.
