I have recently watched a film called The Electrical Life of Louis Wain
I'd give it five stars out of five stars, I don't usually rate films that highly
It is a film about the life of Louis Wain (1860-1939) who was an English artist who became famous in his time for his pictures of anthropomorphic cats
He had some odd ideas about electricity too, electricity fascinated him
In the film he was played by Benedict Cumberbatch
Louis Wain is an interesting figure, he loved cats. All he ever drew was cats. When his beloved cat Peter died he mourned for him for seven years
He eventually developed some kind of mental illness and was committed to an asylum
The novelist HG Wells lead a public appeal to raise funds so that he could be sent to a private asylum, where he could have cats
During that time his art became less and less representational and more and more abstract
It actually became rather psychedelic, and this was decades before the 1960s and LSD
I've used one of his later works as my Religious Forums avatar
Anyway, it's a cracking film and I recommend it
It is interesting and very well made and it can be found on Netflix
