The extra unemployment benefits

We Never Know

No Slack
Today lost a horse deal but I'm ok with it under the circumstances of how it happened.
Here's how it went down...

The couple I was dealing with today are big Trump/republican supporters. We got to talking about people not wanting to work. Right off the bat they said "its because that dam Biden and the democrats giving them $300 extra unemployment per week! Why would they want to work when they can set home and draw more money?"
I said "I'm sure that has some or maybe a lot to do with it and then..... followed up with at least they aren't giving them $600 extra unemployment per week like Trump and the republicans did"

At first they denied it. Then made excuses.

I said "if you were ok with Trump giving an extra $600 why do you think Biden is at fault for giving an extra $300, in other words half of what Trump gave.
Would you explain that to me?

It was then I was told the horse deal was off and I was asked to leave :D.

I don't like either party but what I have found out in my years and my opinion is some people are just so darn blind and/or stupid no matter what party they belong to :p

Edit..........

In my opinion our government messed up right from the start.
Here's how I think it should have played out.

John Doe you were making $10 an hour before the pandemic. That's $400 weekly. Now if you draw $350 weekly unemployment we will give you and extra $50 per week unemployment so you will still be making your $400 weekly wages. But you will have no taxes taken out and no expenses of going to work or day care expenses if applicable.

Jane Doe you were making $18 an hour before the pandemic. That's $760 weekly. Now if you draw $350 weekly unemployment we will give you and extra $410 per week unemployment so you will still be making your $760 weekly wages. But you will have no taxes taken out and no expenses of going to work or day care expenses if applicable.

Joe Doe you were making $40 an hour before the pandemic. That's $1600 weekly. Now if you draw $350 weekly unemployment we will give you and extra $750 per week unemployment so you will still be making $1100 of your weekly wages. But you will have no taxes taken out and no expenses of going to work or day care expenses if applicable.

There would have been no harm or foul by doing that because the people still could have lived as they were and the government would have saved a ton of money.

Just look at the places doing most of the hiring.
Aren't those supposed to be for high schoolers and college students?
Or is it too hard to acknowledge that $600 a week is more than what a lot of adults--even with degrees--are making?

That's true.

Not too mention people that live on a fixed income such in retirement, on social security, on disability didn't get extra weekly or monthly money and live on less. They did get the stimulas checks but so did everyone drawing that extra money.
