Thousands pf Crimeans gathering
in celebration of their referendum vote by a 20-1 margin in favor of joining the Russian Federation was most likely indicative of their votes willingly having been freely cast instead of them being coerced under duress at gunpoint to vote for being annexed by the Russian Federation.

Votes under violence are not legit. Votes brought to action and promoted by an invader amd conducted under violence are not valid. That margin alone screams it's not fair or free or legit or valid.

Sending weapons to Ukraine may help them to fend off the invasion and protect themselves from being murdered, tortured, or raped. I don't see prayers on their own having the same practical usefulness in this situation.

Naturally you are sceptical about prayer. Maybe you are equally sceptical about brotherly love, I don’t know. But surely you must concede that bombing the world into civility, justice and peace is a fundamentally flawed strategy and always has been? Doesn’t history show us this?

When this war is over, and Russia is defeated, what happens then? Putin is removed, as Saddam and Gaddafi were removed; and if Zelenskyy has his way, terms will be imposed on Russia not dissimilar to those imposed on Germany at Versailles in 1918. And so the seeds of the next conflict are sown in the ashes of the old. Because I very much doubt any Russian leader, however liberal or tolerant, will ever accept the long term loss of Crimea and The Don.

I prefer to send prayers than weapons. For those who simply must take action, and I do respect that impulse, there are two choices; contribute to the Disasters Emergency Fund, or go and fight. Advocating war from a distance, then cheering on the chosen side, is as futile an exercise as it’s possible to imagine.

Wrong on all counts.
The last one is just silly.

Weapons are more useful to repel invading hordes.
News reports indicate that Russian soldiers
are dying from weapon related injuries...not
imprecatory prayer.
I suppose you could pray for Ukrainian bombs
& bullets to be accurate. Die, Russkies, die!
