Naturally you are sceptical about prayer. Maybe you are equally sceptical about brotherly love, I don’t know. But surely you must concede that bombing the world into civility, justice and peace is a fundamentally flawed strategy and always has been? Doesn’t history show us this?
When this war is over, and Russia is defeated, what happens then? Putin is removed, as Saddam and Gaddafi were removed; and if Zelenskyy has his way, terms will be imposed on Russia not dissimilar to those imposed on Germany at Versailles in 1918. And so the seeds of the next conflict are sown in the ashes of the old. Because I very much doubt any Russian leader, however liberal or tolerant, will ever accept the long term loss of Crimea and The Don.
I prefer to send prayers than weapons. For those who simply must take action, and I do respect that impulse, there are two choices; contribute to the Disasters Emergency Fund, or go and fight. Advocating war from a distance, then cheering on the chosen side, is as futile an exercise as it’s possible to imagine.
