The Father

I love that first chunk of the lord's prayer. Tells us how it is. "Our Father who art in Heaven..." So cool. The source of our life is in heaven, a mental place. Hey Hey, we and the universe are mental! Makes a lot of things fall into place. Scientists are starting to get there too. Like Richard Conn Henry. Here's his 'Mental Universe'. Here's his home page too, if anyone is interested.

There is of course another version of the Lord's Prayer, from Luke, that comes out a bit differently...

'Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.'

Seems a bit more ambiguous about where it's from...

Just for thought...

Yeah. Not as succinct or as inclusive though I think. I like the 'father in heaven' bit because, as a premise, it seems to explain the rest.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, back when I first read the Bible (c. 12 years old), the difference in the two versions struck me. Why were they different? What could it possibly mean that they were? How different the path of thought that flows out of them! And what can it mean that so many denominations choose to focus on the Matthew version rather than the Luke version?

Anyway, rock on!
