Metallica - Load

I thought it was the coolest thing....until I heard Master of Puppets. I might of well have frisbee'd it after that. :D

I was in good company. There were actually 3 influential albums that were very effective in cementing my love towards music.

Frank Zappa-Joe's Garage Act 1 (it would be 10 years before I would ever hear Acts II & III).
Aerosmith-Rocks
Utopia-RA (with the Electrified Fairy Tale. If you have never heard of an Electrified Fairy Tale just picture wee fairies with tiny electric guitars).

I bought a cassette!
Jars of Clay - If I Left the Zoo
I found their first tape and fell in love with it, though the one I bought wasn't nearly as good...

The very first LP I bought was The Beatles (White album). It was the summer of 1969 and I was 13. (Helter Skelter blew my little mind, but I certainly didn't understand what Charles Manson and crew saw in it.)

The very first 45 (single) I bought was Simon and Garfarkel's The Boxer/Baby Driver

Y'all are making me feel like Methuselah. My first album was on vinyl: Together, by Diana Ross & the Supremes with the Temptations:

1. "Stubborn Kind of Fellow"
2. "I'll Be Doggone"
3. "The Weight"
4. "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing"
5. "Uptight (Everything's Alright)"
6. "Sing a Simple Song"
7. "My Guy, My Girl" (medley of both songs)
8. "For Better or Worse"
9. "Can't Take My Eyes Off You"
10. "Why (Must We Fall in Love)"

I got it at Gold Circle in Centerville, Ohio, for $3.33. That was full price at the time, and a major purchase for me, since my allowance was 25 cents a week. :D

Truth be told, Herb Albert and the Tijuana brass, Creme (nakid chick wearing nothing but whipped creme on cover).

I think it was an album by some band called "Bloodrock". At the time there was a song on the radio called "D.O.A." that I liked.

But to help redeem myself, I believe the second album I bought was the Jimi Hendrix "Are You Experienced" Album. In 1970 I was 13.

The first music I ever bought was in December 1977- The Soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever (no snickering, please, I still listen to the Bee Gees).
