The Four Agreements

This is the path that I feel closest to. It is not really a religion, it is the teachings of toltec wisdom that can actually be applied to any other religious beliefs, granted the person is a little open minded. It is from a book I read called The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz. Here is the basic outline, as also posted on his website, http://www.miguelruiz.com/

1. Be Immpecable with your Word - Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally - Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions - Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best - Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

I just wanted to outline it generally to see if anyone else has heard of it also, I would love to talk to others that are also fans!!! :)

I've not heard of this book, it sounds interesting. I'll check it out if I ever see it. What brought you to this book in the first place?

from checking out the website I'd have to say... LOOK OUT...
never trust anyone who's selling religion... especally native religion... (its strictly taboo) :eek:mg:

you can buy his books (5) for about $10 each... then there is his 'dreaming weekend' where you learn to release the dreams... $350.. of cource to do it right you have to attend ALL of the seminars about once a month for a total of $4200!!!!!
Then there is the trip to Teotihuacan (called a power jurney) wich is lead by one of his 'peronal helpers' for $1195..
then there are his 7 workshops for a total of $4273
Then you can start your own religous group for a paltry $25 'donation'...

*sigh*

I wonder does he ever mention historical Toltec dieties like Quetzalcoatl? and what about human sacrifice?

heres a link on the historical Toltec

Yeah, the website has seemed to become a little more gimmicky since I first came across it. I don't subscribe to all that, I believe that all I need to know is contained in that one little book. The ideas are soo simplistic and are presented in a do-with-what-you-will kinda way, that I don't feel it is being pressed upon me.

It is simple, if you can manage to do those 4 things everyday in life you will surround youself with love and happiness, it is pretty much that simple. It is just a structured way to eliminate all negativity from your life. It isn't a religion per se, it is the teachings of toltec wisdom. I have never fully taken the challenge to incorporate them completely, but it stays in the back of my mind, and I hope to grow towards breaking bad habits one day. I just wondered if others had taken the path and were maybe at a point I wished to be. It is a Hell-On-Earth theory, and I have noticed other people believe that also.

I heard about it from a woman I used to work with, she was pretty fanactical, but self taught. I thought she might have been a little over board, but to see her, how happy she always was, always had a smile on her face, always had some cheerful inspiring words for anyone in the dumps, she never, ever let a single thing bother her. So I always thought if I could even have a fraction of the happiness she did, or even have the feeling that I was in control of my life, that that would be truly awesome!!!

Very interesting book; the concepts within are very Buddhist, along with many other religions. I find the "It's not about me" concept to be the most valuable personally........

Hey Hottie: Pope John Paul 11 wrote a terrific poem in which he said until u can describe the problem which is fleeting, it will bother u. that's why education brings peace of mind and soul. good education or seeking truth preferably absolute, brings the most peace. so peace be with u.

i agree totally with 1.

2.the only thing i take personally is the evil i do not someone elses except for my government when they pass an ungodly bill. everyone suffers because of sin, that's unavoidable be it ours or someone else's.
3. assumptions can create paranoia or the fear of the unknown. ure rite, the way to combat these symptoms is to confront the person or persons with the issue and find out their intent. i don't like scenes or 'drama" as u indicate here, but they happen when someone gets out of self control.
4.i agree but i do regret sin, when i commit it.
