There's an expression, an idiom in my language which is "to have the tail of straw".

Whenever one mentions the Illuminati, someone comes up and say that they don't exist...by belittling the interlocutor.

They have the tail of straw.

If I say that the Flying Spaghetti Monster (Parmesan cheese be upon him) exists, nobody comes up. ;)

Power players in the world are the ones truly in charge. If one has influence over another you can be sure that whatever you want to call them, the Illuminati or whatever , is actually a thing.

Well a guy who spoke to Michael Warnke who was a paster, Michael was a paster and speaker in the 1980s who claimed to be an ex devil worshipper and made it up .

He was the paster and said he did not believe he was an ex evil worshipper;; he said he did not believe Michael was telling the truth about that because when he asked him to explain what the illuminati was;

he said he had never heard of it. The Paster said he'd never heard of an ex Satanist who did not know what the illuminati was.

So I assume he thought the illuminati was connected to satanism.

I've heard about the Illuminati, although I think it gets used in a lot of different contexts. I don't have time to check the details right now, but I think there was some society from back in the 15th century which had that name, but they didn't seem to last very long or make much of an impact on anything. It just seemed like some club who picked a name to make people think "we are the really smart and cool people." So, let them have their little club and let them think they're smart. That's about all I can say about the "illuminati."

Some might associate them with other clubs, like the Masons or Skull and Bones - which do seem like rather odd organizations, but whatever they want to do is fine by me.

As for who decides who the President will be, that would be the voters. If we really did have super smart and super cool people like the illuminati picking our Presidents, do you think they'd pick the ones we end up with? If they are, then I guess they can't be that smart.

I thought you thought that George Soros was the leading Illuminati.;)

There's something like that going on, but it doesn't necessarily have a name. Call it the deep state, if you will. At the end of the day, politicians are puppets.

You may call the Electoral College "Illuminati", I suppose.

It is not like anyone can stop you from doing that.

I don't believe in conspiracy theories but it is evident that there is a class of elites who co-operate so as to effectively control world affairs
I don't disagree, but the voters still seem to hold more power. It's just that these elites can manipulate the voting pretty good if they want to.

it's as if I said: "I don't believe in extra-terrestrial life but it is evident that there are aliens visiting our planet.

They don't conspire though, that's the thing

We all know the elites get together and decide things and what they want is common knowledge

Individual elites are very open about their agendas, if it was a conspiracy they wouldn't be

If there was a conspiracy we wouldn't know that, it would be entirely secret

Yes. It's called conspiracy.
Because democracy entails the people decides, not the élites.

That's not true. Their phoniness is utterly disgusting.
They pretend to be candid people who let the national parliaments decide.
If there was a conspiracy we wouldn't know that, it would be entirely secret
It is entirely secret. But if you have any link to that... I would be glad to change my mind. :)

The very fact that we are talking about them and their activities is proof that there is no conspiracy

If people know it exists it stops being a conspiracy, even if they intend it to be one

You're confusing conspiracy with conspiracy theory.
The first is a real conspiracy that has been exposed.
The second is just a theory...so it's pure hypothetical.

Personally I make a distinction between a conspiracy and a plot

As I said before, I doubt there is a conspiracy - I would avoid that term due to its association with "conspiracy theory"

But there is totally a plot going on
