Luke Morningstar
Mourning Stalker
I am straight and extremely humble.
Even though I have the choice not to struggle with my sexual identity, I make an effort to struggle with it so that I can join my fellow human beings in their struggles and hope, one day, to have a glimmer of understanding of how hard it must be to be treated differently by almost everyone in their lives just for their identity.
I am not proud of what heterosexuals do to maintain cultural dominance and superiority. I am proud to be me, but I am not proud to take on the label of straight - though it would be irresponsible if I refused the label. Because I am not much different than my parents, and their parents, and (as far as I know) the majority of my family and ancestors, unless I work hard and choose to be more open minded and more compassionate than everyone who came before me.
The best I can do is have the humility to recognize how wrong my hetero-normative culture has been (and continues to be) to people who don't fit in to its very limited definition of "human" and "natural" and strive to broaden my definition with every person I interact with.
