The Invention of Lying

Apex

Somewhere Around Nothing
Me and my wife just watched The Invention of Lying. I honestly thought film was going to be a lighthearted comedy like something from Jim Carey, and for the first half it was. Then the second half started and we were hit with an in your face blatant criticism of religion that was so juvenile a random 10 year old from Sunday school could have done better. Some scenes were hard to even sit through they were so horribly written. And it is not as if they tried to write the criticism into the plot in such a way that it flowed well with the story (like Equilibrium), instead they just threw it on top as if it were an afterthought causing the underlying plot to come to a screeching and uncomfortable halt only to start back up for a few more scenes before slamming on the breaks again.

This film could have been a funny and carefree movie, had they just stuck to the plot
