Squirrels are also evolved to freeze when a predator approaches. When a predator in the shape of a car races toward them, they have the opportunity to evolve. Or else.

Goes for dogs, as well.
Humans, too, for that matter.

Those beasts plant oak tries in our yard that I have to dig up. Oak trees send down deep roots that are a pain to dig out. Squirrels are losers in my book.
