Turns out I picked a very winning time to start using the family's Irish name, because even though I'm infuriated once more, it's not nearly as bad because seeing my first name attached to a last name that isn't sperm donor's makes it so much easier to just see him as my mom's husband and something that's leaving after a small amount of venting.
