I'm sitting at my son's house, in his recliner/rocker after "the walk", watching my grandog drag out every toy he owns and strow them all across the livingroom. It's almost time to put him back in his crate to wait for Dad's return home from work. A bone and his blanket will join him, but the remainder will remain where he dropped them.

Dad and I had a conversation recently. He said he couldn't figure out why Ares was depressed. "Well, why wouldn't he be? He's lonely, but wants to talk to adults(particularly men). Everyone ignores him. He's stuck here with me; the family can't or won't deal with him. He's bored. He misses the friends his dad and I used to have, but we're unable to make more. So, I'd say his depression is legitimate."
He agreed he oughta spend more time with him, and has taken steps to do so. (My mom spends little time with any of the grandkids, and my husband is completely estranged.)
For now, its Spongebob pajamas.
